Visited on a Friday night. The place was absolutely packed so I enjoyed my beers at the patio. It was a bit chilly (+2˚C) but still the patio was almost full of people enjoying the great beers of ’t IJ. Affordable prices and amazingly tasty beers. Although the place was super busy the service was effective and friendly enough. The... More

Situated next to a windmill it is easy to locate close to Yays Oostenburgergracht studios where we were staying. Excellent place to cool down with a few beers after traipsing round all the city sights. Good vibe with foreign tourists and locals chatting and happy. No food but snacks - cheese sausage and peanuts, just like a proper bar should... More

While the location is a bit out of the way....we walked a few miles to get there....it is unique. Where else can you visit a craft brewery in a windmill? I believe that it's only open from 2-8 pm so when we got there around 5 pm on a Tuesday, it was quite busy. We were able to easily order... More

I read a tip from "ducsamsterdam" site, and walked on a sunny day from central station to Brouwerij't IJ. It was one of my best decisions at Amsterdam trip. It's an amazing walk, that to gave us great opportunities to take good pictures and the Brouwerij't been itself a perfect place to drink a good beer and have good moments... More

This place is out of the hustle and bustle in what looks to be a former windmill/ industrial building. Lots of character inside, lovely atmosphere and the beer/ snacks were great. Well worth a visit

If you want to try Dutch beer this is the place to try. It's a little way out but the bus stops across the street and it's easy to find as it's built into the only windmill in the city. For nine euros we got a wooden tray with five different beers to try and it was one of the... More

Went with my best friend to this place, great venue for trying out new beers and have a good moment. The snacks (sausages and cheeses) they offer are pretty good and suits well with the beers they sell. Definitively a great spot to chill !

One of the best craft beer places in Amsterdam. They have a nice offer of beets and snacks. Service is great and fast. I liked the most the beer tasting offer (5 small beers served together) and smoked ox sausage. The only shortage is that they are open only till 8 PM.

Every visitor should add this place to their list. Great setting under the windmill. Great beer. Very popular - was packed. I had the sausage and cheese combo - delicious. It's a pity they don't have the snack and beer options / menus in English though!

We visited this brewery on a Friday afternoon, the day before our trip was ending. It was such a fun place to try some authentic Netherland beer and snack on cheese and meat. Get there early as it gets full, fast! Can't wait to visit this place again. The beer is superb!

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
