A beautiful old canal house housing an astounding collection coursing the evolution of pipe smoking from 500BC from all corners of the earth. The dedication to this museum is self evident from the thoughtful displays to the well informed and passionate guide. I urge enthusiastic...More

Even though we had visited before the Van Gogh Museum, we both agree on: this was our personal highlight of the day! Tiny, cozy museum with selected exponates (they keep overall 35000 pipes in their archive; ofc not all are exhibited!) and a personal guide!...More

The Pipe Museum was a great and informative experience! Even though I don't smoke, learning the history behind tobacco production and pipe design, materials, and manufacturing was very educational. The museum, located on multiple floors of an old house, is pretty small but the collection...More

I don’t smoke, never have, probably never will since I’m 67. BUT, if I opted to, it’d probably be a pipe, especially after our visit to this unassuming museum. Our guide (it’s so small I’d guess every visitor gets the royal treatment like we did)....More

The gentleman working is very rude. There was apparently a sign that was turned around so we couldn’t see we weren’t supposed to pass and he was incredibly rude about the accident- mind you we only walked less than a foot past. He lost our...More

We are already big fans of Amsterdam's small museums, and on our latest visit we added one more to the collection. There is something about a museum where you are taken round personally and gently taught a great deal of fascinating history in the process....More

Thank you for your kind remarks and very true observation that the history of pipes and culture of smoking is something worth to preserve. Our collection full of artworks proves it.

I think it is only opened in the afternoons, I turned up and paid about 10 euros. The manager shown me around giving various info on the massive collection. 30 mins may be all you need, close to lots of locations so easy to find....More

This visitor was not really captured by the extraordinary collection, a collection you can not find in any other museum in the world! What he got - as every visitor - was a private tour. In my opinion that is not basic at all, but...More

We visited on a whim, encouraged by the good reviews, and weren't disappointed. The museum isn't large but our guide was excellent in explaining the history, technology and art of pipes.

The museu seems tiny from outside but it is actually pretty big. The collection is amazing, from the beginning of smoking to modern pipes, with some opium pipes thrown in as well. There were two people there - a man at the store counter and...More

Sure, our museum shop has an amazing offer on pipes, both modern ones in briar, meerschaum or ceramic (a Dutch speciality) and antiquities in the field of smoking and tobacco. You'll be amazed to see our store.
