Club smokey was the only club open during the weekdays until late hours. Always a good vibe. Good music. Good crowd. Mostly filled with tourists. So yea if you are a tourist you better be heading to Smokey. No entry.
Bouncers were sound (which I rarely can say), venue had that European kick to it, music was decent.
Just ask about the deals when buying a drink, 3 VK Red Bulls were 24 Euros, yet the deal for 4 worked out at 15.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws
include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.

Oh no I'm sorry I'm late in answering the question. If you haven't gone already the answer is no it doesn't really play 80s & 90's music.
If you did go to Amsterdam already, I hope you had an amazing time :D
