The little Johnny Jordaan park was recently renovated and now sports a comfy bench for resting in the shade of trees, in front of which are positioned iconic characters of the Jordaan music scene, amongst which most prominently Johnny Jordaan. Lovely picturesque spot to take a load off and chill, handily located next to the popular Eland Cafe.

You can find Johnny Jordaan Plein along Prinsengracht at the intersection with Elandsgracht. Here you can see a short curved wall in front of a sculpture collection of Dutch musicians Johnny Jordaan, Tante Leen, Johny Meyer, Manke Nelis as well as Jan & Mien. It is a nice arrangement of sculptures, regardless if you are familar with the performers or... More

This great neighbourhood de Jordaan loves music from Amsterdam, and in the summer is also the Jordaan Festival celebrating this love for music. During the weekend I like to walk on Elandsgracht for weekly shopping. .

It is a small square in the Jordaan (an area in Amsterdam). After Johhny Jordaan passed away in 1989, people wanted to remember this Jordaan's singer, by making his statue and put it on this square. Nowadays you see 4 other statues, all the musician from Jordaan. They were the pearl of Jordaan ( Johhny Jordan, Tante Leen, Johnny Meyer,... More

Went looking for this attraction then stumbled upon it. Found it interesting and unusual at the same time. Think locals would have a better understanding than us foreigners, Nice reminder to the sounds of old Dutch folk singers. Take your pictures still more to discover and enjoy in this area.

We were walking along the side of one of the many canals in Amsterdam when we came across this group of sculptures. We had never heard of Johnny Jordaan so I took a photo to remind us to look him up on Wikipedia when we got home. We have done so. This is often a useful way to add to... More

Not much too it but worth a look if passed, - rated very good as it was a good surprise and a little Oasis of calm just off the busy canal side- felt very 'local' rather than touristy all of a sudden... So walk by stop smile take a breath, take a pic and move on....schimples

We, 4 Singapore ladies stayed in an old dutch house near Johnny Jordaan Plein during our holiday in April 2014. Walking to this area became our daily activity. There is a nostalgic charm to this area, and what dutch people say " Gezellig" feeling. You will find many nice eateries, shops and Albert Hejn in this area. The people are... More

A little oasis in the middle of buildings. This little square salutes the old dutch folk singers of the early and mid 20th century that grew up in the area. You will find many a regional dutch group there taking pictures and singing and humming well known tunes.

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
