About
Panama* was established in the former port centre at the Oostelijke Handelskade in Amsterdam in late March 2001. For more than hundred years enormous machines had been busily providing electricity to the harbour from this impressive building on the "IJ". The trendy location of this 'entertainment transformed building' (opposite Java-eiland) is affectionately known as the 'Manhattan of Amsterdam', typically due to the industrial heritage of our city. As well as being a contemporary nightclub with great theatre shows, live music & popular club evenings, Panama also organizes weddings and business events. Panama* Nightclub holds the best clubnights with dj's like: Olivier Weiter- Sander Kleinenberg - Tiesto -Erick Morillo - Sasha - John Digweed - X press 2 - Frankie knuckles - Timo Maas - James Holden - Danny Howells - Armin van Buuren - Todd Terry - Joey Negro -Josh Wink - Ron Carrol - Erick E - Carl Craig - Dave Angel - Michel de hey - Dave Clarke - Dave Seaman - Armand van Helden – Hernan Catttaneo- Nick Warren- Technasia – Markus Schulz and many others.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My experience at this club was horrible. The event management was dangerous and indifferent. Even with tickets bought beforehand we still had to wait for an hour and a half in line. The line was dangerous and people were feeling sick in the crush. The bouncers were rude and disrespectful. As young girls going out it makes you feel unsafe when the security is making jokes on your behalve and manhandeling you. Not only was the line and waiting time absurd but the staff was not dealing with the situation. They also had a token system wich was over crowded and it was impossible to get drinks. Inside it was incredibly hot and the bouncers did not let anyone outside to the smoking area to breathe. People were fainting because of the heat and several bouncers wete majing jokes about it. I am really disappointed in this event and club.

Very small! Compared to British clubs and rubbish location out of town and not near other bars.
Coin set up for drinks is a pain, 2 euro for the toilet (only 5 cubicles for the whole club) is a joke. Grumpy staff with headphones on.
The 90s.00.10s party was also crap- played a lot of the same tunes twice and missed off so many classics.

Panama is delight. Friendly largely clean and fascinating. The museums are excellent especially the Panama lock museum in the old city where I stayed for four days. Prior to that I had opportunity to fly in from St Blas islands that are relatively pristine and way off grid. I was on a yacht and had arrived in the islands by sea. No really helpful information how to get to Panama but Porvenir is a small air strip that hosts private air transfers on demand. I had no desire to take boat to mainland and then arduous road to Panama so asked at tiny air tower and Jaime the controller plus chaplain local orphanage he did the rest liaising with pilot to collect me and fly to Panama city for $200
I was advised to stay in old town which was a great tip and stay at the very clean, friendly Hotel/hostel Magnolia…perfect.
Tips for St Blas get good SIM card as there is no wi fi …take small denomination dollar bills. Mask and snorkel well worth it as there is good coral snorkelling largely in damaged by bleach and visitor traffic a veritable desert island of EDEN…TAKE A GOOD HAT.
Separate reviews regarding redos and bars in Panama will be posted.

My husband and I, in our early 70s, have just returned from 3 weeks in Panama. After a few days at Gamboa Resort and a boat trip on the Panama Canal area we hired a car for 13 days to visit mountains and beaches. The highlight for me was staying in a guest house where the owners took in injured or abandoned sloths. We took a flight to the San Blas islands. No wifi, tv, or radio, absolute heaven. We had 2 trips a day one a beach for swimming or snorkelling and a cultural visit in an afternoon. The food was amazing wherever we went. Our thanks have to go to Cacao Travel, a local company, that organised everything so efficiently for us.

Did not eat in the restaurant, I visited the club Panama for dj Ferry Corsten's gig at Queens night Amsterdam. Great club, not too big, good atmosphere, no queues at the bars however the club was full, friendly staff, good smoking room, clean toilets (no queues!). I liked it a lot.

the venue is really cool, outside the city centre and NO TOURISTS! great soundsystems in all rooms, techno/electro and cheap drinks. The security staff were vile! I saw them picking on girls coming in laughing at them and even throwing one girl to the floor who had just screamed because another grabbed her..the police did come.

We went there with a group of 10 on a Saturday night. Asked for one of us to take a look inside to check the crowd and music. The doorman did not let us and the manager and cashier reassured us that it is full of ppl. (We specifically asked if it was empty or not!!). They even asked us to pay entrance and leave our stuff at the lockers, we did. When we walked in it was empty!! Only like 20 people in the club... Of course that is OK, but the dishonesty and trying to make as much money as possible out of ppl is NOT.

Promised to be open untill 5. But stopped at 4. Conclusion was us being stuck in Amsterdam with nowhere to go because public transport only starts 2,5 hours later. Beets were extremely expensive. They are advertising with Heineken but serve Bavaria which is the cheapest Dutch brand available. Yet they are selling it for € 3,50 for a glass of 0,25 liter
