Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I saw this place by chance. I was looking for The House on Three Canals when I saw an old gate next to the University's refectory. There is a sign of 'books' and 'street music'. So I entered the gate and you don't believe what you see, books...books.... and books.... a corridor full of books. In the middle of the corridor you will find another port and that brings you to this hidden courtyard, the 'Oudemanhuispoort'. It is the faculty of Law of the University of Amsterdam.

We rather stumbled across here. The law faculty of the University of Amsterdam. You have a corridor with booksellers who I guess come out at the weekend and you end up in a courtyard with a little garden.

Accessible from the Rokin or Oudezijds Achterburgwal, pass through a corridor and find yourself in a garden leading to the entrance of the University of Amsterdam Legal Studies department. Pretty garden invites to sit on a bench and reflect on Minerva's buste, the goddess of wisdom will guide your thoughts to new insights.

The is one of the hidden germs in Amsterdam, the home of law students, a little, green courtyard where the University honours its most famous scholars Vossius and Barlaeus.

But the University has managed to spoil this timeless spot by erecting at least three non-smoking signs and by placing at least five anti smoking tiles. Photo's one takes will be spoiled by those nanny statish interventions.

What a shame!

The Oudemanhuispoort with its book stalls has been untouched, though.

On one of our many walks around Amsterdam we found ourselves inside the quadrangles of the University and happened upon this oasis of peace which I later was told is a part of the Law School. Nothing much really to see, but a nice place to rest or read, if one is so inclined.
