The guided tour was very informative as it was led by a 4th year Art History student. Very interesting to see a recreation of a tiny one-roomed dwelling that the poor were consigned to before the development of social housing such as Het Schip in...More

A bit of a bus ride out of town but worth it for a slice of architectural and social history. The staff are welcoming and knowledgeable. There is a guided tout every hour in Dutch. The English tour is at 3 pm and brings the...More

Interesting for the architecture here and in the environs, for the architecture and for the sociological background. Architects wanted working people to have beauty, functionality, a tower, and other benefits formerly reserved for the very wealthy.

Museum converted from an apartment building in the Spaarndammerbuurt district (just north of Westerpark), built in the style of the Amsterdam School of Expressionist architecture. Unique chance to get to grips with a form of architecture that you come across in parts of 'Dam. Activities...More

Very sophisticated tour of both the building and the context: social housing in 1919 Amsterdam , a field where Communist associations joursted against Socialists, Protestants and Catholics. Hey, ALL...More
