If you do nothing else when in Amsterdam, walk everywhere and explore De Negen Straatjes or the Nine Streets. A grid of streets straddling the canals, this is my favourite part of Amsterdam. Vintage shops, great cafes and restaurants, concept stores and a buzzy atmosphere....More

This place can get a bit crowded at times so pick your time but remember that nothing opens up until 10 am. The buildings are just great to take photos of.

It is a nice experience where you can combine shopping with having some food. Not being a fan of shopping as such, it is smoothing the pain when you get a nice bite or a drink in between finding the stuff to wear.

The area of De Negen Straatjes is perfect for some shopping off the beaten high streets. Zig-zag from street to street and pop in one of the many bars or coffeeplaces on your way!

Go during the week to avoid the crowds, but this is Amsterdam shopping at its best. Cute boutiques, lovely cafes and of course the great canal views.

We ambled around this area which has a lot less traffic that most other areas. There are plenty of small shops, bars and cafes. Well worth a visit.
