About
Modesty has no place at this highly respectable sauna, where you get down to the altogether in mixed company. Sauna Deco is a small spa in a unique place and with a unique interior. A place for people that know how to appreciate a sauna bath. Don't expect swimming pools or a Jacuzzi but know it has everything for a couple of hours of relaxing.

Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. - John R1 contributionGreat Experience like stepping back 40 years in time. What an amazing Spa. Just like stepping back 40 years. The staff are so helpful and informative. The Infrared Sauna is different but so enjoyable. Both conventional Saunas and the Steam Room are also excellent. Finally the cold plunge pool is so refreshing. Good value for money and would use it every week if I lived in Amsterdam.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 October 2023
- James C2 contributions3 days in AmsterdamEnjoy it’s a great place to have a break. Sauna Deco is a marvellous place to relax, around 30 Euros entrance, there’s infra red heat rooms (two), a large pool, mixed locker room, massage rooms, relaxation areas outside with comfortable loungers, nice staff, steam rooms, Saunas plenty of showers and an upstairs rest area, towels a plenty but leave your swimming costume at home. Value for money at the Spa 10/10 and best of all is the authentic decor. Remember everyone is wearing their birthday suit.Visited September 2023Travelled on businessWritten 6 October 2023
- Joel A17 contributionsWorth the visit if you like architecture or spas-I like bothA little history. In 1925 Paris hosted the Exhibition Internationale des Arts Decortif et Industriales Moderne from which the term Art Deco was eventually coined. The decor of this show was the exhibit of the department store Bonne Marche and after the exhibition it was incorporated into the actual store. When the store redecorated, they sold the interiors and they were incorporated into this spa. I found the interiors to be magnificent but the staff cold, impatient and impersonal.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 February 2024
- Efi K2 contributionsAmazing, cant wait to come backBeen at Deco mid February 2024 all alone while on a business trip, without my bf. One of the best experiences I've ever had in my life, actually this was my first time in a nude spa. Staff really helpful and polite, everything clean in general and a good mix of people. My only problem is that I rent bathrobe, and it was mixed twice, somebody got mine and left his, so I had to deal with this, but its not an issue of the management. NB everybody is naked, at all places, both men and women, various age, from 20 to 60. From changing room to saunas and showers, all rooms are mixed nude. Sounds scary but it only takes a minute or two to get used to it. If you are searching for something more, please do not bother coming. You will be escorted out in a minute. Just the perfect place for relaxation, cant wait to come back.Visited February 2024Travelled soloWritten 10 March 2024
- DurhamprophotoToronto, Canada739 contributionsA relaxing afternoonThe building is furnished with art deco items brought from Paris about 75 years ago, creating a gorgeous and luxurious atmosphere. There are two saunas, a steam room, infra-red sauna, and a cold plunge pool. All were excellent. If possible, schedule a massage - if you were walking as much as we were, it will feel like heaven. We wished they had a hot tub to complete the experience. Also, soap is provided in a dispenser but bring your own shampoo and lotion. Every person has a locker and there is a hairdryer. Refreshments are available onsite for a reasonable cost (the lemon ginger tea is awesome as is the carrot cake).Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 April 2024

Terrible. We emailed and called ahead of time, and the front desk kept giving us the run around on availability. They encouraged us to stop by.
When we arrived, they said they had no availability.
This is why we contacted you multiple times. Don’t play games, it’s the opposite of relaxing.

Heard of this place and decided I had to give it a go. The surroundings are truly lush, wonderful old panelling.
So I’m from the UK and we kind of have a problem sometimes with stripping off. Europe though has the right idea. Nobody… absolutely nobody cares you’re sat there in the nude and you’re all there to soak up the atmosphere and hot relaxation anyway so who cares. Just chill and embrace that.
Either bring a towel or hire one for a reasonable cost. Yes you can just rock up. Obviously you wear a towel in between hot rooms and you sit on it in the sauna itself. In the steam room you leave it outside, again for obvious reasons.
The plunge pool is wonderfully refreshing, as are the foot baths but a whirlpool hot bath is perhaps sadly missing. Then again after a friend who managed a gym told me how they found how foul the water was in those things, it’s perhaps a good thing it’s missing.
You’ll leave truly chilled and refreshed.

I had a long layover in Amsterdam, so I decided to book a massage and sauna session. I had a wonderful massage from David, that helped relieve the aches from several days of walking. After that, I alternated between the various sauna rooms and the steam room. I even sat outside in the cool air with a light rain falling, perfect for cooling down after a hot sauna. My only disappointment was that the cold pool was closed due to Covid restrictions. I will definitely try to go back next time I am in Amsterdam (and I might even schedule another long layover).
Some people might be a bit shy about going to a co-ed nude sauna. My advice is to just go for it. Everybody seemed pretty relaxed about being naked together in the saunas and showers--and after a few minutes, you don't even really notice it.

LOVE this place. An Art Deco gem in the heart of Amsterdam. It is literally the best way to spend €27.50 in this city. Hours of relaxation in a unique setting that is inexpensive enough to enjoy regularly.

On my trip to Amsterdam I discovered Sauna Deco.
What a lovely place!
And I think I had the best massage ever from Roos.
She was passionate about her craft and highly skilled. This all came with a natural tranquility where you feel comfortable, at ease and in the right place. The results speak for themselves.
I will definitely come back!

A very nice old style place. No clothes, no swimsuits, just a smile. Fellow guests were pleasant and proper. Don't come if you're not comfortable with social nudity. Do come for a totally relaxing experience.

Hi. Do you need to book this spa, or can you just turn up. Thanks

היי, מה המחיר ולכמה זמן? מה החבילות? סוגרים מראש או להגיע ולשלם שם?

Is it entirely naked? I wanted to book this for my boyfriends birthday, but I’m not too excited it’s about this nude spa business. Neither would he be.

Hi Osian12, in the saunas and steam rooms no swim wear is allowed, the change room and showers are coed, the place is stunning in its visual appeal that you will be overwhelmed to realise that you are naked. You can wear a bathrobe or towel when walking around or just relaxing in the lounge areas. Never have we felt uncomfortable, intimidated or harassed when visiting Sauna Deco, in fact quite the opposite we feel refreshed, it is a liberating experience one for which takes about 10 seconds to appreciate that it actually feels very natural, In Germany, Austria, Netherlands such sauna/spa facilities are all the same in that naked in the sauna/steam room are the norm, some such venues have hotels attached in Northern Europe it is “normal”. Usually minimum age of entry is 16 to allow for a calm and relaxing environment. So in essence in answer to your question “is it entirely naked”........only in the sauna/steam rooms, usually you walk into the sauna room/cabin and place your towel on the timber benches not allowing for any skin contact with the timber, in the steam room you would simply disrobe outside the room enter through the door and sit on the seating provided at this point you have very limited visibility due to the steam, you are not going to be seen that much through the steam. My advice is “just do it”.........you are not going to know anyone, and if you did they would be in the same position as yourselves. It’s most liberating and very natural! We plan our vacations in Europe always visiting a spa/sauna hotel resort such as this - often called (Therme/Thermen/Thermy/Spa/Sauna). If you require any more info please let me know, all the very best.
