You never know what you will find in Kitsch Kitchen. There are great little gifts for children and some unusual items for kitchens. They have everything from notebooks to Mexican (I think) pottery to rolls and rolls of vinyl for decorating projects. There are racks of adorable clothes for barbie dolls and lights and flower pots and giant pinatas ...... More

Seriously a great store to spend an hour perfectly happy. Great stuff to buy and they have no problems in sending it to your home. So much colour, nice people and a great song on the speakers. Made my day.

A little Mexico in Amsterdam centre. Located at the Rozengracht. A big colourful store with millions of things you want to have. From Mexican folk art such as handmade nichos with little skeletons ( altars) Frida Kahlo hearts, colourful pinatas, ceramic handpainted trees of life etc. to loads of colourful kitchen wear, stationary, hair circlet flowers, you name it. They... More

the selection is quirw dissapointing- kitsch can come in many levels but here it was basic and indeed nothing to write home about. the area however abounds in other shops and makes for it.

I have been into this shop twice, I have never actually brought anything but I love looking around at the toys and home interiors that would not have looked out of place in a home some 30-40 years ago. You must pay a visit if your in the neighbourhood.

This shop is a lovely little place to spend all your euros whilst visiting Amsterdam. Lots of homemade creations with a unique twist that other shops do not have. I would recommend buying gifts for people here instead of cheap and unoriginal usual tourist gift shops. Next time I visit Amsterdam I will be returning here to again view some... More

By far this is the best store i have been to here in Amsterdam. Everything is so colourful, fun and quirky. I wanted to buy everything in the store, they sell rolls of mexican oil clothes so you can make your own bags, table bloth etc, they also sell pre-made oil cloth items. A lot of their stock is for... After the walk to get here we were very pleased to find it open on a Sunday. The store itself is a riot of colour with the oilcloth bags being a particular highlight. There is also colourful oilcloth available for purchase by the metre for the crafty types. While not all the items for sale are practical they are pretty... More

Staying in Jordaan

Neighbourhood Profile
Jordaan
One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll through this especially convivial warren of narrow streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and quality galleries. Historically a haven for the working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is better known as an enclave for artists and designers. As popular as the Jordaan is as a destination for locals and out-of-towners alike, the area never feels particularly touristy or overrun with outsiders. A highlight even for long-time Jordaan residents, be sure to accept any invitation to step within one of the area’s beloved courtyards or to have a sneak peek inside one of its many working studios.
