This is a rather crowded canal with the flower market here. The market is great, but this canal is not one of the most picturesque.

We took a walk down both sides of this lovely canal. Several historic houses were listed in our tour information. That was helpful to find the places and see the ancient architecture..

There are lots of them. Mostly the same. The cross canals like this one have fewer tourists walking about. Also less to see.

This is one of the smaller canal not far from the Anne Frank House. It is more interesting to see the old Dutch houses and the parked boats.

Unlike the major canals that encircle the city, there are many smaller canals that criss cross with the majors. Opposite Anne Frank House is a short canal, the Bloemgracht. Depending on how much time you have in Amsterdam, it would be a comfortable and enjoyable...More

Beautiful canal section which is a great photo opportunity. Not busy at all which adds to its charm. Luckily for us the sun was sending a dappling effect through the trees so the pics were stunning.

This is near the centre of the city, running west from the Anne Frank House. Its a quieter canal, lined with boats and shadowed by the towering traditional dutch houses.

I like the smaller "side" canals to the Prinsengracht because these are quiet and great to take pictures too! I often bike on this canal to the city centre to avoid the main streets and get the real Amsterdam Jordaan feel.

One of Amsterdam’s most preferred outdoor markets and
some of the city’s favorite watering holes are but two
of the many reasons to save ample time for a stroll
through this especially convivial warren of narrow
streets with its unfair share of quirky shops and
quality galleries. Historically a haven for the
working class and emigrants, these days the Jordaan is
better known as an enclave for artists and designers.
