This bronze statue that was made bij artist Jose Fijnaut was as a remembrance of Max Eeuw, a Dutch chess Grandmaster and also a mathematician. At the same location there is also a museum "Max Eeuw Centrum" and a jumbo chessboard with the jumbo chess pieces.

Under the watchful eye of this Dutch chess grandmaster people of all trades gather to play the Game with outsized chess pieces. It gets quite intense too. Good summer evening visit.
