It's a strange city when a new library is one of the highlights . We'd been told to go and have a look, but really? A library? Well, you know what, it's well worth a visit. We were staying in the west of the city and it was a decent bike ride, despite the snow. The library is close to... More

Nipped in here after being recommended. Lovely modern building wit a brilliant view at the top and a really nice cafe as well.

Libraries are not must-see top tourist attractions, but this is a fine example of how libraries could be built in this century. It was bright and well-signed, easy to find the English and music sections. We didn't analyze the collection, of course, but I'd love to have this in my Milwaukee neighborhood.

My aim was to get to the restaurant in the top floor to have a coffee and enjoy some views of the city. Despite it was raining, I spent a nice time there. I also had a quick look at the lowest floor, which is devoted to children. There were some lovely displays and cute sculptures.

Anyone who loves books as much as I do, will adore this library, you name a subject and they have books about it, but apart from that they have a fabulous exposition space on the 3rd floor covered in photos of Rico d'Rozario/ A former drummer turned photographer who just about photographed any and all music worldstars, from Miles to... This Multi-storeyed, modern library is very beautiful and huge with lots of books, even has a children's area and a restaurant on the roof offering spectacular views of the city. It is situated at a walking distance from Amsterdam Centraal Station and city centre. One can read peacefully for hours with good views from all the floors in the library,... More

amazing library and fantastic views of Amsterdam. honestly, if we had libraries with a restaurant up top and multiple floors of incredible books/selection, people would be there all the time! Don't miss it :) Go to the 7th floor at La Place and have a drink/bite to eat! You won't regret it!

Is the perfect library. Has an amazing children's area where they can run freely and enjoy books and parents can sit and read with them. Has a beautiful exposition of Small Mouses and a big Polar bear. The collection is quite impressive and the building is worth seeing considering it has wan many prizes. There is a beautiful view of... More

Modern library, with lots of material on offer and plenty of space to read, chill out, have a coffee/meal at La Place on the top floor and enjoy the views over Amsterdam.

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
