We were encouraged to visit on the 'hop on - hop off' bus tour that we had taken. A waste of time. They really want you there to sell you diamonds. It says free tea and coffee, and there is - out of a vending machine in a plastic cup. I say no more.

Listen to the staff telling you different sizes and values of diamonds. You may be lucky in having a diamond placed on your finger to try! I did!

free attraction with the hop on/ off sightseeing boat/ bus which was a welcome surprise. Our guide took time to show our small group around the workshop and cutting process. and then into a small office for a close up look at some real stones and the clarity assessing process.

Its a FREE tour. The Hop on Hop Off bus takes you right to Gassan. Then you are offered a free tour of the diamond cutting floor. Its interesting. Also you can stop here on the bus and canal cruise tours. We used it as a great place to hop off, get a tour, use the restrooms (nice and clean)... More

The tour at Gassan is very personal. You get your own guide who takes you through then shows you the difference in diamonds. They were all incredibly beautiful and its all free! Would definitely recommend.

It felt like a long sales pitch. And this was a group of high school students with no money. While interesting at times, being locked in a room with 45 people can quickly become overheated. Would not do this again unless I am in the market for diamonds.

When we bought the Hop On Hop Off tour the Gassan visit was included. When we got in the building the tour was informative and interesting. It gave information about the company's history and where the diamonds come from. There is also a Shop in the building where you can purchase jewelry and watches. This place is not that important... Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
