The Belle Statue can be seen at Oudekerkplein just in front of the church and in the heart of the Red Light District of Amsterdam. This sculpture is the work of sculptor Els Rijerse and was placed here in 2007.
What you will see is the bronze figure of a prostitute standing in the doorway of a brothel. There is a plaque in front of the statue with the message reading "Respect sex worker over the world"
The statue was commissioned as part of a movement to educate the public on the rights and lives of sex workers around the world.

really...nothing much else about this other than it signifies the red light district. There are some interesting things to look around this statue.

I wasn’t so sure by passing by this statue unless I wanted to visit the most old building in Amsterdam which is the Oude Kerk (old church), so while searching for the church I sudden saw the statue, its small but good to see if u’re planning to visit the old church!

This is a nice statue by the church. It is not huge and I can understand why it was placed here. I wouldn’t purposely go to visit but if you a walking past, it is worth a photo snap.

It’s our favourite neighbourhood of Amsterdam and still we see new things. Just found out that this statue is in front of the church. It’s so small that sometimes we miss this but it’s beautiful.

it’s a very small statue so can be easy to miss... but if you walk around enough (as we did) you will run into it eventually. It’s a cool statue!

An unusual statue as it has been erected outside the old church in support of the sex workers all over the world. It was unveiled in 2007.

The wonderful thought provoking statue of " Bell " is a superb statue located by the Magnificent Oude Kerk in the Red Light District ( De Wallen ) .
It's a statue in honour of all sex workers across the world who for whatever reason are involved in this profession.
The statue is well designed and has a great position by this church,if it makes you stop and ponder the plight of the unfortunate people caught up in this trade then the artist and the group who commissioned this statue have delivered on what they set out to achieve namely to see that irrespective of your beliefs about prostitution you should show the same respect for these people as you would anyone else in any profession.
Very easy to locate on Oudekerksplein and a Sculpure I highly recommend you check out.

This statue is seen as a support for all the sexworkers in the world. The initiative to raise this statue came from the "Prostitution Information Centre Foundation" in Amsterdam. The location is just on the church square, outside the Oldchurch. You will not miss it as every tourist should and would pass this place (no doubt at all)
