We visited this spot an overnight layover and it was the perfect ending to our trip! We spent the night ice skating under twinkling lights, listening to Christmas music, and taking photos in front of the sign!

There is so much to see and do in this area - Van Gogh museum is must and also look out for temporary exhibitions. Individual entrance fees can rack up s look onlne for deals/museum passes if you plan on visiting a lot. Museum shops good place for gifts and souvenirs. Nice place to just stroll around too,

This area is always busy and bustling - we say the permanent exhibitions and a Banksy special! Allow yourselves a whole day to see it all.

All three major museums are around this large open area: Rijksmusem (4 stars), Van Gogh Museum (5 stars), Stedalik (Modern Art 3 stars). There are a lot of food carts and other places to eat (inexpensive) with places to sit. Also great for people-watching.

The Museumplein is a large area where the best museums, gardens, shopping streets and the Concertgebouw are located. Tourists and locals abound since every corner holds a fine destination - but it is fun to walk around, watch people and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

A place to visit for some iconic visiting points in Amsterdam such as the iconic sighn of I Amsterdam, art and contemporary museums, etc. We didn't enter the museums because of the queues and to be honest the value, but it is at least definitely a place to visit, even if you're just passing by.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
