My husband and I are here for our honeymoon and we absolutely loved the Christmas Market in the square! You can see the gorgeous church and be in the thick of Dutch tradition. Love!

Maastricht of course is known for the “Vrijthof”. We went there for the Christmas Market but also without this, the atmosphere with all its bars and restaurants just has a good vibe to it. Must visit and an essential part of anyone’s Maastricht experience.

Without a doubt one of the best places we have been for a short break. Great food and you must hire a bike for that little extra. Just keep you eyes open for bikes when crossing roads.

Good mix of places to eat, rest and to shop. Boutique and well known brands are located in a concentrated area, so most shops are within short walking distance. Sales have started and saw some great bargains!

This is a very nice square but we should have seen it without the tacky over-commercial christmas market.

This is a beautiful square. Unfortunately, it can rarely be seen in its full splendor because of a continuous stream of events like fairs, horse events, pseudo-gastronomic events etc. In the summer weeks some local “orchestra” hyjacks the square for a couple of weeks (unbearable...More

Every time I visit Maastricht, I stop here to sit on a terrace (or inside in winter) to have a coffee and do some people watching. It is also nice to have a meal here.

A messy square with buses passing and plenty of renovation work going on. The cafes are fine albeit pricey. We preferred the market square with its splendid town hall. Added bonus: a Febo with outdoor seating.
