The Helpoort is interesting but not looking at all like the above picture. The Helpoort has just a short tower with an archway. All those big towers don´t exist in Maastricht. How could you ever post a pic of some other city! It´s quite upsetting!

We visited upstairs, because we were intrigued by the narrow stairs and shady signs. We had no idea what to expect. It was a nice walk up, but unfortunately there was not that much to see. But it was free, so it did not matter.

Glad that the town has preserved this wonderful town gate. The museum is small but good. Staff very polite. Well worth the visit but will only take an hour at the most. Beautiful tower inside and out.

We couldn't visit it because we were there Sunday morning 7,30 but I still think we were there at the best time. The silence and the early morning light reflection on the stones created a magical atmosphere.

Went here while roaming around town. Really nice info inside to learn. It is amazing how old things are that were man made and still around!!!

Solid walls and gateway in these medieval walls found at one end of the town. Good for photos. Close to a park to relax in.

During the winter period Helpoort is closed. Going upstairs in the tower is with small children is not recommended. I'm sorry !
