They have a standard exhibition and they have monthly themes. It is a very large museum with lots of quirky things.

A great combination of classic Dutch and contemporary Groningen modern art. A highlight was the archeological section of historic local artifacts. The silver room was quite impressive.

Appreciated the free entrance for students. There is a very wide selection from ancient to modern art, suitable for all tastes. Nice to walk around. The gift store is also very well stocked. Very nice and creative exterior on the water as well.

A lot of people who don't know much about art, or the Groninger Museum in general, don't like the style of the postmodern architecture. But if you know a little bit more about it, you would definitaly appreciate it more! Like the golden tower. It's...More

I especially enjoyed the exposition about 'De Ploeg', an avant-garde group of painters in the first half of the twentieth century. The colourful expressionist paintings blended very well with the interior of the museum. Maybe it would be an idea to invest in a larger...More

Just across from the rail and bus stations on it's own island the Museum is worth a visit. A mixture of traditional and contemporary art installations. Takes a good couple of hours to get round everything. The museum itself is a well designed building with...More

Walked from the hotel to the Groningen Museum as had read that the architectural aspect of the building alone was worth a visit. Once there, decided to go in this colourful building and view the exhibits. Mostly modern with some Old Masters but great to...More

We went to the Groninger because we are huge fans of the Memphis era and its designers like Ettore Sottsass and Michael Graves. The building itself is a work of art and their exhibitions always seem to fit the building. Love coming here!
