Great day trip out of the city and if the weather cooperates, you have a beautiful view of Zurich, the lake & the surrounding mountains. It's easy to reach by public transit and there are walking & cycling trails that lead to the observation tower.
Take the Uetlibergbahn and in a couple of minutes you are in nature! Walk through the forest on clearly marked paths and you end up on the top, great views across the lake of Zurich and the city.

The standard price should be 3.10CHF per person. You should walk to Uitikon Waldegg station and take train from there. It takes about 10mins to get to the top. I don't know how fit are the parents :). I have seen old... More
The standard price should be 3.10CHF per person. You should walk to Uitikon Waldegg station and take train from there. It takes about 10mins to get to the top. I don't know how fit are the parents :). I have seen old people doing it but I wouldn't recommend it for people elder than 70 years old.
