«People who know animals will protect them.»

Up above the city of Zurich, spanning a surface of approximately 27 hectares, is Switzerland’s largest and most frequently visited cultural and educational institution: Zoo Zurich. The popular nationwide excursion destination wants to get people interested in animals and encourage them to play an active role in nature conservation and the protection of species.

I took tram 6 to the zoo from central. The team ride is great with fantastic views as it climbs higher and higher to the zoo. The ride takes 25 minutes and the zoo is the end station. From the team stop the zoo is a 5 minute walk, there are animal paw prints on the pavement showing the way.... More

We come often and love it as much as our kids do. It's on par with london which is a great zoo in my view. Rainforest hall is definitely worth a trip although a bit remote. Petting zoo is great for kids. Other than that it's the usual but with great variety. Don't miss feeding the sea lions!

As locals we have season tickets, probably it may seem a bit expensive otherwise. But our kids (twin boys, 2.5 years) would go there every day without getting bored. Just don't go on a Sunday when it's way too crowded. We usually go to the top first (snow leopard) and zig-zag down to the elephants - safes some energy...

I have visited the Zurich zoo many times and one interesting thing about it I discovered this year was that - it is an excellent and alternative walking tracks and a place where you can have long talks, especially if you are with a person whom you are compatible with. Apart from that, this place is kid's favourite and they... More

We had an afternoon with some spare time on our visit to Zurich so our host suggested going to the zoo. I was a good suggestion once we got over the sticker shock of the entry fee ($26 per adult which is about double what we are used to paying in the midwest USA). The zoo did a nice job... More

Not only does the zoo lie in one of the most beautiful settings, overlooking the beautiful city of Zurich, the establishment itself is so well designed, and so spacious that you feel that the animals are happy and truly well taken care of. The variety of animals is pretty broad and each of their areas are carefully designed to include... More

Zurich zoo keeps updating its exhibits to show its animals in its best light. The elephant enclosure is a good example, with a large swimming pool that you can see them swimming. I recently did an evening tour after public gate closure as part of a private event and it was an interesting change from the daytime. There are various... More

Visited this place and overall it was in good conditions. The place looks clean and the animals are well taken care of. In general I vowed not to visit zoos because I don't agree with having the animals trapped in these conditions.

I was expecting a small zoo, but here you can see almost all the animals in the world. Great to see a tiger, anaconda, and various species.

I have traveled around the world and seen many Zoos and Aquariums. This by far was beyond amazing. I enjoyed the aura of the zoo. Yes the enclosures were small but I did not see the animals demonstrated any negative behaviors. The elephant section was incredible. I will come back to Zurich just for the zoo!
