Hats off to our tour guide for showing us Zurich in the cold weather. I am over happy with it. But this tour could be better if she has some sort of voice amplifier. It was a large group with 20 people or so, sometimes it's hard to follow the tour guide around and hear her clearly.

i think we were there almost everyday - they arranged 3 tours for us (gray line to Jungfrau and Heidiland, Rhine Falls with "best of switzerland".) arranged the tickets we needed for transportation to the airport and other places so we didnt need to waste anymore time trying to figure it out. everyone there were very friendly and very helpful! conveniently located and hours were great.

Day 1:
We reached Zurich from Paris through train at about 11:00 am.
Checked into our hotel by 12:30 and then went to go for 1.5 hours Zurich Lake cruise from Burkliplatz. We had taken Zurich card for the day and this trip was included in the card. After the lake cruise we went for Cable car ride to LAF from Adliswil station. Both the activities turned out to be great and our 3 year old daughter enjoyed a lot too.
Day 2:
We went to Jungfrau. Took train from Zurich to Bern-Interlaken-Grindelwald-Kleine Schidegg-Jungfrau and came back from the side of Lauterbrunnen. Some people had adviced us against this trip due to long train journeys, but since we were visiting Switzerland for the first time, it was a good opportunity to see the sceneries from the different trains. There's nothing much to do at Jungfrau just see the views that takes about 10 minutes. Personally, I feel that the trip is extremely over-priced (even after getting swiss pass discount). The ice palace is quite lame with a few old ice sculptures and over crowded, so you can't even take a few good snaps. The food is expensive too (of course). The sight of the glaciar is a good one though. I felt somewhat lightheaded and dizzy while I was at the top and my husband felt the same, so had to take some rest and do deep breathing.
Day 3:
We went to Rhine water falls. Took train from Zurich HB to Schloss Laufen. The falls are not high at all, but still worth visiting. The views are good, and we walked around the falls and along the river to reach the Neuhaussen station to catch the train back to Zurich (with a change at Winterthur). We did not do the boat trip in the river as we did not want to get wet. The walk along the bridge and river to reach Neuhassen is great.
After reaching Zurich HB, we went to Uteliberg through train S10. Walked till Uto Kulm at Utelierg and let our daughter play at some of the swings there and went back to the hotel. The views from the top are good and you can see multiple layers of mountains and the tip of the Alps in the sky.
Day 4:
We went to Lucerne and Mt. Titlis. Took a train from Zurich HB to Lucerne and then to Engelberg for Titlis Rotair. Our daughter enjoyed this trip a lot, with multiple types of cable cars, ice flyer, more activities, and chance to play in the snow. We came down to Engelberg and then went on to Lucerne and spent the evening there, following the tourist walking route. Then went back to Zurich.
Day 5:
We were quite confused about what to do on this day as we wanted to let our daughter enjoy. So we went to Berne and took tram to reach GurtenBhan from where we took furnicualr to reach Gurten. There are many games and small train for kids. My daughter had great fun there and didn't want to come back. It's a good place for little kids. We walked in the park, ate apples from the apple trees, and then came down and strolled through Berne old town till the Bear park. We had thought of going to Interlaken too on this day, but since we spent a lot more time at Gurten, we dropped that idea.
Day 6:
We checked out of the hotel and deposited our big suitcase at Zurich HB for 10 CHF and then did the Zurich old town walk with the tourist map. Followed Limmatquai till Burkliplatz and then came back through Bhanofstrasse. Then we took our train back to Paris at 3:00 pm.
Switzerland is a great place. Totally accessible and super efficient local transport system. We didn't get tired on any of the days as we got ample rests during the train travels. We took the Swiss Pass for the middle four days and Zurich card for the first day.
Food is extremely expensive everywhere, so to save some money, we bought drinks, sandwiches and salads from Coop every morning and took along with us. Where ever we went, we bought one hot snack and coffee and had it along with our packed lunch. This way we could spend more on having dinner!

I just came back from SZ (switzerland) trip of 6 days and 5 nights.
I know a lots of people who doesn't know much of SZ always have this questions in mind.
How many days I need in Switzerland??
Many people have little time but wanting to do many things when they plan to go. For all of you in similar situation....here is the valuable information.
Here are the most important places that one should visit when going to SZ first time or for short period.
For all visitors going there I would suggest to buy Swiss pass or Eurail pass so you can move around in SZ without any hassle and its also less expensive. And the best way to see SZ is by TRAIN.
Though hiring car is not a bad option but you spend time looking at the map.
Lets take Zurich as entering point! You can do this from Geneva as well but the opposite route.
What you should cover in 3 days??
1). Zurich - Chur - Andermatt - Luzern ( can be done in 1 day but more will be merrier)- Andermatt is a very scenic and admirable train / road journey. Luzern is more for shopping.
2). Luzern - Interlaken - Montreux ( do with the Golden Panoramic train) - 5 hours journey - put it as one day. You will see typical SZ farm, greenery, farm house , mountains. scenic landscape etc etc along this route. NOT TO BE MISSED when you are in SZ
3). Mount Jungfrau or Mount Titlis ( Jungfrau can be done in a day ffrom Interlaken . Titlis can be done in half day from Luzern) Jungfrau is one of the best mountain visit in whole Europe
What you should cover in 5 days??
All above 1 to 3 + below
4). Montreux - Martigny - Chamonix (you will beautiful landscape and pretty villages along this route base for Mont Blanc. Chamonix is little secluded village and good place to spend few hours if not a day.
5). Montreux - Geneva - Along this route is all lake view and you may find beautiful buildings of UN. UN headquarters in Geneva. Lake geneva is an interesting place to relax.
Bern can be an option and one can visit Bern in half day. Again is the capital city and mostly for building structures.
All above routes can be covered by Eurail or Swisspass.
I hope my liitlw trip and research will help many other tourist .

Hello All, I went to Black Forest today the 19th of July 2013 in a Tour operated by Zurich Tourism for CHF 76 (Approx INR 4,800/-). It was Amazing, the tour guide Anna and Driver Michele were absolutely helpful, clear english commentary throughout, We went at 12.40 in the afternoon and arrived back at 19.15. The Black forest comprises of Cuckoo clocks, Large Lake, Black Forest HAM and Cakes....Best place to be in Germany, while returning from Germany we went to Rhine Fall and took a Boat ride for CHF 8.00 which allows you to feel and touch the Fall. What a tour to remember. I recommend all to visit this place if you have extra day in Zurich.

Stunning lake and town so close to the alps. Great food and stunning scenery. It reminded me very much of my home country New Zealand. However I noticed some posters displayed at Zurich train stations, around the streets, and in public areas. As a non german speaker I didn't know what the posters said, but I found them scary and sinister. They reminded me of images I'd seen in my high school history books from 1930s Germany. I found out that these posters are anti immigration. It made me feel very uncomfortable, and unwelcome (even as a tourist). I actually wanted to leave, as Switzerland suddenly seemed a threatening and unwelcoming place. The photos are below. I wanted to post this on trip advisor to get the word out there. My query is how welcome are foreigners in Zurich?

So glad we found out about the 24hr or 3 day passes for use on all trams, trains, buses and local ferries within Zurich and the suburbs. We were able to venture much further than we would have, and the transport system takes just minutes to work out and is amazingly frequent. Oh, and we also got free entry in the national museum with the card - one of many museum choices we had. And a trip out to the airport the next day. Seriously excellent value.

This was my favorite thing in Zurich. We took a phenomenal walking tour with a lady (Philomena). Booked the tour from the Tourist Information. It cost CHF11 with a Zurich Card. It was well worth it!
It was Saturday, and there were many who signed up for tour, so they split the group into English speaking and German speaking groups. There were less than 15 people in our English speaking group.
Tour started from Train station....To Bahnhoftrasse...To where Fraumuster Abbey used to be....To oldest district in Zurich along Schipfe where you find local handicraft stores...to Lindenhof hill...cross the Limmat river on Rathaus Bridge...To homes of famous people...to Grossmuster Church.
We learned so much, titbits about Zurich and things that were not visible to us right off:
Eg: history of train station, who made that colorful lady hanging above the station and why, how Apple got its spot on Bahnhofstrasse, how the old town's apartments along Schipfe are rented out by the city to residents with low income, why the cobblestone walk way is called Schipfe, how shops on Limmat Quai (along river) used to be in the water like in Venice, what is Lindenhofhill sitting on, and old Legends of Charlemagne, what is in the good tasting water from the thousands of fountains in Zurich, about Zwingli's reformation...and more. Also found good restaurants and sausage stand in Zurich through this tour.
2hrs well spent! So much to see in Zurich and wish we had stayed longer.

Can I leave my luggage at Zurich airport? What are the charges? Any other tips?
Written 11 February 2020
Grüezi Tariniriy
Thank you for your request.
You can leave your luggage at the Zurich Airport. There are different size of lockers. The price starts from 5.00 CHF.
I recommend you to contact directly the Zurich Airport, if you need an exact price.
We wish you already a great time in Zurich.

I have one full day and a half for Zurich's stay. I intend to cover Zurich Lake (boat ride), Zurich Opera House, FIFA Football Museum, Swiss National Museum, Linderhof Hill and lastly Old Town.
Can you take the trouble to help me to plan the places mentioned therein? I believe ZURICH Card would be immensely helpful to cover the cost of travel as well as to cover entry fees to those places of interest.
Written 22 July 2019
Hi there, thanks for contacting Zürich Tourism. I think Zurich Card is for sure a very good option for your plans. You'll have public transport (incl. boat trip), FIFA Museum, Swiss National Museum & Opera House included. There is a 24h or 72h card, although I think the 24h card should be enough for your stay.
Hope that helps. Please get back to us if you have further questions.
All the best,
Silvan, Zürich Tourism

I will be working in Zurich for a week by myself and have Saturday and Sunday off (July 13th/14th) what would be the best day trip or train somewhere to see the most and make use of my time. Female travelling alone so a little nervous about safety!
Written 8 July 2019
I am female and I traveled alone. Did not have any safety concerns at all. I took the tram to Hauptbanhoff which is a big train station in downtown Zurich. I did the Old Town Walking Tour which was fun. The weekend is really busy. So be prepared for large crowds. I also took the coach to Brunnen a small village in the countryside. Stunningly beautiful. Whatever you do, I’m sure you’ll enjoy your time in Zurich. I’m going back in October so.... Hope this helps

Please give us info about Zurich Fest 2019. Ends up we will be there at that time. Are tickets required? Where is it? Our hotel is the Renaissance Zurich Tower...is this close by? All the websites I have found are in German. Thank you.
Written 7 June 2019
Hi Alice. Zurich Fest will be in the area around Bürkliplatz, Bellevue & Limmatquai. Admission is free. From Renaissance Tower, you best take tram Nr. 4 to the Main Station, from there it is a mere 5 mins walk to the festival area (you can't miss it, really). Hope that helps, otherwise please get back to us.
Sincerely, Silvan, Zürich Tourism

Hello, we are travelling to Zurich this July and have 2 young children with us, 8months and 3 years - are there any activities or attractions suitable?
We'd also like to go for a walk and experience beautiful landscapes on one of the many trails.. is there some that are shorter in distance and easy to walk (maybe even push a pram?)
We are staying in Niederdorf, Mühlegasse.

I am needing some help in deciding what sort of travel pass both my husband and I need for our stay soon. We will be transported by prepaid bus from Basel/River Cruise termination to Zurich Airport and from there we will need to find our way to Grindelwald on the afternoon of June 14 th. We will stay in Grindelwald for three nights, then return to pre booked accomodation in Zurich on Saturday 17 th June, then the following morning will need to leave for flights at the airport late morning. I'm looking at what tours or tourist sights are also covered by the rail passes. Would you recommend a train trip back to Interlaken one day for more detailed sightseeing? Thank you
