since my studies 40 years ago in Zurich i MUST ride this little train when coming to Zurich. I love to ride outside on a platform. The train starts out of a business house, crosses a busy road immeditately and reaches its top destination within very few minutes: so hurry up to enjoy the ride!

Hi, this is a short link to the student centre overlooking the city. It is free if you have the day tram ticket which is essential to get around anyway.

Polybahn is good to get up the mountain quickly but it also reminds you of another time (some 100 years ago). It is comparable to cable car to Rigiblick or Dolder car. Worth to do at least one...

As part of our day pass on the trams, we tried out the UBS Polybahn. Really cute red tram that takes you up the slope for a nice view of Zurich rooftops. Total trip is about 1 minute long.

There are only few things left which give you a true "Zurich experience"; the Polybahn is one of them. Less than two minutes to get from the riverside up to the ETH, but it's worth it – cute little waggons, a little anachronism in the middle of an ever-modernizing city. The views from the ETH "Polyterasse" on top are great, and... More

this is a good way to go up the hill and still enjoy a small view to the city. this is also included in the full day ticket for the city's transport system. When you arrive on top of the hill you have the university's sightseeing area which is really good for a photo. On the way down is also... More

This is a short ride up the hill to the university. Part of the standard ZVV transport network (buses, trams and trains) in Zurich, so price is very reasonable. Or covered by your transport card (eg. Zurich card) is you have one. Fully automated. You just wait on the stairs for the car to arrive then board. It is an... More

Your Swiss or Zurich travel pass will cover this trip. A five minute ride up the (steep) hill with good views, gets you to the university level speedily and painlessly. Well worth the trip, even if you don't want to visit the university. Finding the entrance on the Limmatquai is slightly difficult, if you approach it form the wrong direction,... More

A cable hauled tram form the lakeside up the hill which only takes 5 minutes. Great views from the top over the lake and the city centre. Travel cost is included in the one day Zurich travel card - zone 110.
