Its called the Golden pass line for a reason and the views did not disappoint. Worth the additional time spent compared if you were to take a faster train to your destination. I took the classic Belle Epoque train carriage rather than the Panoramic train...More

Scenic views on our panoramic Golden pass train were aplenty as we left Montreux and headed for Interlaken. We started with spectacular views of Lake Geneva in the morning. We next saw a lot of the typical vistas in the Swiss countryside. We can never...More

We took the golden pass route from lucerne to montreux. The route is really very scenic and picturesque. We had paid extra for reserving the seats which was not required. We took the panaromic train from Zweisimmen. I would recommend to take the classic train...More

Golden Pass journey on 25.07.2017 from Montreux to Zweisimmen – Train No 3118 (Coach 11) which departed at 09.44 – arrival 11.32. No one can help the rain! We had VIP seats in the front – and windscreen wipers, which was fortuitous, or we wouldn’t...More

The best way to experience the Swiss Alps, short of climbing them. This special panoramic train climbs the Alps and travels through them from Luzerne to Montreaux on Lake Geneva. We traveled from Zweisemen to Montreaux, which we were told is the most dramatic portion...More

Oh.. its a lot.. the connecting train is normally just on the opposite platform. Just don't worry. And the rail officials are very careful to ensure that no one gets left out.
My wife and I will be travelling through Switzerland on an Interrail Pass (2nd Class) in August. This will be our first train-only holiday. Generally, I am guessing we'll be ok without reservations for most of our journey as we're flexible on times. However, for the Golden Pass route from Zweisimmen to Montreux, I've read that reservations are recommended and required if we want to do the VIP front-of-train experience. Here's my question: How exactly do I make this seat reservation with it knowing I have an Interrail Pass? I've been all over GoldenPass.ch and Interrail's website and can't seem to get a straight answer. Do I just make a reservation in the VIP train car or do I need to pay more for the upgraded seat? GoldenPass.ch is showing that as CHF 8 per person. Is that all I need to reserve or do I need more?
