What a beautiful place to visit. The mixed reviews suggested that this wasn't a good place by some but we were very impressed with it. I would recommend that you pay to go up the bell tower and look out at Lausanne from the very...More

Well worth a visit! Finding this beautiful cathedral was our highlight in Lausanne, the views over the city and out toward the lake are really nice. What we liked most about this cathedral was the detail which has gone into the building, from around the...More

This is the crown jewel of the walking tour of Lausanne and well worth a few extra climbing steps to visit. We enjoyed the stunning architecture, statues, stained glass, organ and grand feel of the Cathedral. It was not our favorite European cathedral but very...More

Yes, it is protestant, and calvinist at that, so, no, there is not much extra adornment as that was removed during the rather stern Swiss reformation led by Calvin, a very good friend of John Knox. But my goodness what a beautiful building! And because...More

There is a pretty steep climb form the Metro to get to the summit on which the cathedral sits, but given that the historical museum is right beside it, it is worth the effort. For aficionados, it is a classic, well preserved, early Gothic building...More

A glorious cathedral in Lausanne, in the midst of historical buildings and parks. Hearing the bells chime the hour is quite awesome. When you walk inside the cathedral, you are in awe of it's majesty! A must see, when in Lausanne!

Lausanne is extremely hilly, so the easiest way to reach the Cathedral and the Old Town is by using the Metro subway. The Visitor's Information is located right next to the Metro and they were most helpful in telling us which stop to exit for...More

Every cathedral that you enter has something different to offer. Beautiful artwork and stained glass. The organ is impressive to view. A nice stop while visiting Lausanne. Nice view from the small plaza outside of the front door.

I thought I had seen the most interesting cathedrals in Europe, but this building is a nice surprise as an example of pure early gothic style.

This is a hard question - I would think the organ only plays during services. There is no one around during the non-service hours. Perhaps you could check their service schedule and try to attend one.
