Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is absolutely unacceptable to hear all day noise from helicopter and also an enourmous amount of trucks on the road leading to dust and noisy. Zermatt has definitely lost a lot of its charm and is victim to gigantisme with regards to more cable cars and building construction activity between Zermatt and Furri. What a pitty !!!

Thank you very much for your feedback. We regret that your stay did not meet your expectations. Unfortunately, Zermatt also needs some time to optimise its infrastructure so that visitors will continue to find a high-quality offer in the future. By the way, the Zermatt - Furi cable car is a replacement for the old cable car. Despite the circumstances, we hope to see you again in Zermatt.

I was disappointed how I was treated by one of the 2 women here on February 24, 2024 at 17:00. She was the older and larger blonde woman. I had just arrived with questions on how to buy tickets for the cable car and train. I was met with flippant remarks about the weather and 'how could I be so sure the cable car would be runnin and be such a weather expert', for example, in a smart-alecky tone and simply told to download the app from the QR code in front of her. I noticed other travelers from other countries that she provided brochures to and sold tickets to. Flummoxed, I got in the other line with the thinner and younger blonde woman who was nice enough, but didn't offer to sell me any tickets and provide anything of substance. Just as well, as I could not have done it any better than I did on my own once I left the train station and had time to figure out the best plan of action to make the most of my short time here. I found most of the tourist offices helpful in Switzerland, but something was definitely off with this one and have absolutely no idea what their raison d'etre is. Zermatt was a great stop for a couple nights, but one of the few places on my trip in Switzerland where I encountered uncalled for arrogance such as here with the older tourist office woman, some hotel maids, and the snotty young kids from some of the European travelers that were not properly being watched by their parents on the cog train, etc.

Zermatt used to be beautiful. Yes, tourism seems to be designed for visitors who only come once. With a few exceptions, the restaurants are overpriced, and the staff are even arrogant or cheeky. It's almost like "we don't need it". Bikers have become a problem in the hiking country. The same goes for the many electric vehicles. It's very unsafe to travel on the "race tracks". We found a friendly hotel and ONE great restaurant. The rest? Still. Zermatt? That's it.

Herzlichen Dank für Ihren Aufenthalt. Wir bedauern, dass Zermatt nicht ganz Ihren Erwartungen entsprochen hat. Trotzdem hoffen wir, dass die schönen Erlebnisse überwiegen.

Trains were proving a challenge for us during our inter Rail holiday so we called in here. We left not only with a clearer picture of what we needed to do but also with good information about the town itself and a town map.

It is an interesting office in itself with lots of good information and the staff are very helpful.

They speak perfect English which makes things easy and really do try to help you out.

In Switzerland we have two very good arguments. Well-trained specialists with a unique education system and a unique natural environment that needs to be protected. But there are always people in the management structure who want to reinvent the wheel. Unfortunately, this also seems to be the case with the Zermatt mountain railways. It hurts my soul. But as a regular guest of the "Zermatt community" I will no longer be able to pursue my great passion for skiing and hiking. I have already had intensive discussions with the CEO of the Schilthornbahn in the Bernese Oberland about the future of the mountain railways. Fortunately, with success. Nothing beats a mixed clientele with mixed needs. This is the only way to meet different needs without risk. An important customer group are and will remain the locals. Their gut feeling should definitely take precedence over the company's success in the long term. I am a long-time guest who has always enjoyed spending many winter days in Zermatt. I view this development with very mixed feelings. React! Yes, the horn is there. Do you want to sell that too or do you want to be proud to sell your hometown? You are welcome to ask me personally about my feelings as a guest.

One of the best things about this charming Alpine location is the total absence of cars from the Main Street. The train line also ends here, making it feel just that bit more isolated and special. They do however have electric taxi carts so you do have to keep eyes and ears (they’re very quiet) open. Having subsequently read up about the history of this, and seeing how they have so successfully resisted the ubiquitous motor car, I really hope they continue their policy but the total of 500? taxis and possible increased numbers to pander to additional hotel demands is worrying for the locals.

Hopefully Zermatt remains a successful pedestrian enclave because it is an absolutely brilliant place to visit.

Throughout our trip to Switzerland we found the staff at the tourism office very helpful and friendly. This was no exception, the staff was very helpful in planning our excursion to the mountain top, guiding us where to go for better views based on live weather update.

Stopped in here to get directions to our hotel when we arrived in Zermatt. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were interested in hiking trails and they provided us with a map of the trails that were open and were helpful with activities and things to do. After 30 hours of travel this was a quick visit which was very helpful and oriented us to Zermatt. It is right outside the train station and easy to find by its large sign.

Hi,
Yesterday, a blonde girl with tattoos treated me very poorly. Worse you can't work. A horrible experience. I recommend not going. If you want information, look for it on the internet.
