Take the bus up from Grinelwald on the weekend, and check out the open air cheese sales, straight from the local alpine cheese huts. Then do the easy hike to First, or go up the Schwartzhorn for the serious.

Grosse Scheidegg can be reached by bus from Grindelwald and is a great bus journey in itself. There's a restaurant by the bus stop, where a meal or beverages may be shared before walking across an easy path the First, about 1.5 hours. The walk...More

We walked there after staying the night in the hotel at First. Good scenery and views back to Grindelwald but also to the next valley as it is the watershed.

Well, its just a must for classic rail fans and Eiger history fans. Be warned, it can be a very busy train interchange with tourist crowds. Worth a stop off for mountain views, photos, walks and refreshments before going up to Jungfrau. Rail tickets best...More

Gorgeous views from up here. Take the bus from either Meiningen or Grindelwald. We like to bus to the top and then walk down to the Rosenlaui gorge (about 1-1/2 hours). You can catch the bus from there. It is an easy and not scary...More

Grab some salami and cheese and bread and head into the mountains... it's simply the prettiest place I've visited. I think it'd be impossible to get lost and water bubbles clean and clear from the ground to drink.
