The journey to the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe, at 3454 metres Europe’s highest altitude railway station, is the highlight of every visit to Switzerland. It offers visitors a high-Alpine wonderworld of ice, snow and rock, which can be marvelled at from vantage terraces, the Aletsch Glacier or in the Ice Palace. On clear days, views extend as far as the Vosges mountains in France and Germany’s Black Forest.

Went to Lauterbrunnen and got train from there, all the way, up. The cost was more than our airfare from London to Zurich, but.... The whole area is quite stunning. Very crowded in summer time, which spoiled it a bit, but lovely places get the...More

You have to come here. Beautiful setting. Even in July, wear long pants and a medium weight winter coat. Waterproof would be preferred. A puffer jacket would be a good idea. There is snow. Bring along hat and gloves. There is also a walk within...More

Jungfraujoch was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Switzerland. The journey is quite expensive, I believe I paid 113 CHF for Wengen-Kleine Scheidegg-Jungfraujoch-Kleine Scheidegg-Grindelwald (with Swiss Travel Pass discount), but can easily pay off. I made a round-trip via Grindelwald, with Lautebrunnen...More

At least 25 years since we were last there and the area is very crowded. The weather was not forecast as good for the week and we picked the 'best' day, and decided to pay an extra 10 chf per person for guaranteed seats but...More

The thing to note about all this is that the Jungfrau is the mountain (at 4,158 metres), and the Jungfraujoch (3,466 metres AMSL) is the saddle between the Jungfrau and the Mönch (another mountain, 4,107 metres high). When you take the train from Interlaken, it's...More

The railway journey is very pretty. The attractions on top are superb. Recommend the zip line. Restaurant choices are great. Make sure you have warm gear even in summer. Railway ticket is very expensive. Definitely worth doing.

We live in the southern U.S. and have not had many opportunities to ski, so seized the chance here on a gorgeous, sunny July day! (Seriously!!! We skied in the Alps in July!!) It was a day my family will NEVER forget. The views are...More

The train ride and natural beauty of the Alps was great. The Top of Europe is heavily promoted and when we got to the top we felt that too many people were crowded into the same spaces at 11000 feet. One restaurant was just for...More

We were in the ice palace and having a jacket is advisable. Check the weather forecast in advance not only for temperature but visibility. If you can, go outside and hike a bit in the glacier
