One of the best places ever for summer sunsets. Take a boat ride, picnic, and swim. One of Switzerland's larger lakes.

Everybody love walking, party, eating, making BBQ near the Lake and swimming in the lake : tourists, students, families, couple.... No cars, no noise just water, mountains and within two minutes walking you can be downtown or in Neuchatel old town.

We have been here in July 17, in the mid summer when the town of Neuchatel is very famous for its beaches and its great atmosphere, that’s although there are more people in the city still stays true towards its roots as an village in...More

I was there as a petsitter for six days. Just wanted to spend a lot of my time with the pets. Lovely parks. Long walks into town and back. Very beautiful lake but not Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) by any means. I think there is...More

I spent an entire afternoon just walking and sitting at the lake. The city has provided amazing walkways and benches through out Neuchatel to enjoy the the lake and its surroundings.

Neuchatel is a great city for a weekend break. The lakeside is very popular, whether you want to relax alongside the water, have a drink or eat in one of the many cafes and restaurants, or enjoy the old city streets. It is peaceful and...More

Had a real good time with my course mates at the lake side. They have spots you can grill your meat yourself. We played games as well since the place is very spacious and airy. Good place for family

This is the biggest lake in Switzerland that is 100% in Swiss territory. Much recommended for discovery.

Lake Neuchatel is the largest 'all Swiss' lake. It is 36 km long for about 8 km wide and from the Northern shore you have the most wonderful views over some of the most spectacular mountains in the Alps: the Eiger, the Monch and the...More

Questions & Answers
Will be driving or training from Geneva next Wednesday afternoon to arrive in Chur/Arosa by Thursday evening (for business) with my 13 year old daughter. We have one full day and overnight and want to spend it in a French speaking canton doing something unique. Neuchatel sounds perfect. Creux-du-Van looks amazing. But since we will have several days of enjoying the mountains when we get to Arosa, we wanted to instead use the 24 hours to do a lakeside experience where we can speak French with the locals, enjoy shops and outdoor cafes, and maybe visit a castle. If the weather is nice, would love to take a bike ride for a couple of hours and explore paths along the lake to take in the views. Question: To find a hotel in a setting that offers these opportunities, and which loans/rents bikes, should we plan to stay in the city of Neuchatel itself, or should we look at some of other villages along the lake or Murtensee lake? All of the TA reviews I find here in this section are for the "Lac de Neuchatel", but I don't see which town/city. Thanks for suggestions! Jamie

I'm a tourist in my own country and so I can't be of much help. However, Neuchâtel is a lovely city with much to see and I like to think that it is best to stay there instead of a small village in the area removed from... More
