Mount Rigi's majestic peninsula on Lake Lucerne is the perfect setting for an authentic Swiss mountain experience with unforgettable views of over 13 lakes and the spectacular snow-capped Swiss Alps. Located in the heart of Switzerland, Mt. Rigi can be quickly and easily reached from Lucerne and Zurich. It is the Swiss people's favourite mountain destination, can be accessed via Europe's first ever cogwheel train (est. 1871) and is renowned for its numerous cogwheel railway and aerial cable car routes. You can visit Mt. Rigi 365 days a year and there's plenty of outdoor action on offer, including 120km of hiking trails. The numerous lookouts, delightful terraces and the Mineral Baths at Rigi Kaltbad also ensure there are plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation on the Queen of the Mountains.

I visited Rigi when it was quite cloudy, but the view was still spectacular. The whole mountain is quite scenic, and there is reasonably priced restaurants and kiosks to eat from.

Beautiful place. But it takes a day to get up to the summit. You should think at least 6-7 hours. It is more than three times to change, but it is a beautiful place.

If you are traveling lake Como by train, you will pass via Arth -Goldau, the cog wheel train station to visit the Rigi is at the station, so it would be quite direct for you.

If you arrive early, take from Zurich Flughafen to Luzern (download SBB App for detailed transfer info), then take boat at Lucerne to Vitznau for funicular to the peak.
