Mount Rigi's majestic peninsula on Lake Lucerne is the perfect setting for an authentic Swiss mountain experience with unforgettable views of over 13 lakes and the spectacular snow-capped Swiss Alps. Located in the heart of Switzerland, Mt. Rigi can be quickly and easily reached from Lucerne and Zurich. It is the Swiss people's favourite mountain destination, can be accessed via Europe's first ever cogwheel train (est. 1871) and is renowned for its numerous cogwheel railway and aerial cable car routes. You can visit Mt. Rigi 365 days a year and there's plenty of outdoor action on offer, including 120km of hiking trails. The numerous lookouts, delightful terraces and the Mineral Baths at Rigi Kaltbad also ensure there are plenty of opportunities for rest and relaxation on the Queen of the Mountains.

Had a snowstorm when we were there so no views or activities to do. Heavy snow and very strong winds was all we had. At least the ferry ride was very nice and relaxing.

Hello! I'm a solo traveller first time travelling out of Asia, stepping out of my comfort zone into Europe - Switzerland. My initial trip was re-scheduled, therefore i have the time to slowly plan again with 15 days left to Switzerland! So i was planning to set off from Lake Lucern at 11:30AM towards Mount Rigi as a half-day trip. I could not set off earlier, due to I am able to reach airport at 8AM in Zurich, and given the time limit and having to navigate to my hotel. I believe that I will reach Lake Lucern at around 11AM. Therefore, giving me a buffer time to go to Mount Rigi. So as below is my schedule towards Mount Rigi from Lake Lucerne. ( I've already purchased a Swiss Travel Pass ) Take Ferry to Vitznau Platform 1 Earliest Timing: 11:12AM, 12PM, 1:12PM [Duration: 1 Hour] - I've checked the timetable After landing at Vitznau, find the cogwheel RED train to Mount Rigi (Also known as Rigi Kulm). Approximately every hr [15mins] - then 40mins journey to Riji Kulm. After reaching Riji Kulm, explore around, buffer time: 90 minutes - 120 minutes. Rigi Kulm - Take the blue train back to Arth-Goldau (Is it easy to navigate to find the place to take the train?) Latest by 5pm or 6:05PM [Last cable car] - Likewise, i've checked the train schedule. After reaching Arth Goldau, then take the train back to Lucern for dinner and onwards (Have not planned for any night activities, if there is any to do at Lucern at night, please advise), thanks! Cheers, Jervois.
