We enjoyed our ride up to the first stop, to get out and hike. The signage is a bit confusing; the walk down was difficult because there are a lot of stones, and steps.

Lovely and if you have Swiss Rail pass, all inclusive. Gondola tram to 7000 feet above Lucerne the golden circle takes you there after a boat ride around Lake Lucerne. Gorgeous country and spectacular city. Consistent photo moments.

My wife and I took the "Golden Round Trip" up to Mount Pilatus in June of 2017. We went up via cable cars and back down the cog wheel train, and then took the train back to Luzern. Wow, what an amazing experience. At the...More

We had a great day of climbing and the views are spectacular. But unfortunately we were very disappointed by the staff and ticketing system. First of all in Kriens the lady did not explain properly that we needed to pay for a return from Pilatus...More

We went hiking to Mount Pilatus, and we were struck by the scenery of this beautiful area. It was a relatively easy hike, though a bit steep, but it was all worth it when we arrived at the top. I strongly recommend visitors to Lucerne...More

I booked a half day tour, this saved time queueing for various tickets. As the other travellers advised you probably can use the Swiss pass only for the train and boat sections. For the cable car/gondola option you need to... More

The weather varies - check monthly predictions on weather sites, but there will most likely be snow on top of the mountain (I hiked it on the weekend and small bits of snow are already there now summer is sadly over!). There... More

December is usually when the first snow arrives in the area. It won't prevent operations but it will be cold and hiking may be difficult. Closing times are usually 6:30 pretty much everywhere.
