Why does this 10m high chair have one of its legs broken? I couldn't find an information panel to tell me so I had to look on the Internet.

Symbolic sculpture
Jul. 2021
We were checking out the UN building, and this sculpture is located in the plaza right across the street. It is an impressively large chair, and has symbolism regarding land mines and war. That said, it's just a big sculpture, so I don't know how much of a destination it is, but we were happy to have seen it.

Added Attraction to the UN
Jul. 2021
Not much except it is a huge chair with a broken leg. I would not make the trip just for the chain but it happens to sit at the gate of the UN.

In front of UN
Dec. 2020 • Friends
It is located just in front of the United Nations and serves as a symbol against landmines. It is good to take a picture there and then make a tour in the United Nations when they are open.

Memorable visit

I love art installations so deliberately went to see the Broken Chair.
The broken chair is designed by Swiss artist Daniel Berset.
The chair is made of 5.5 tonnes of wood and 12 metres high.
Opposite the chair, you will see the Palace of Nations.

Fascinating

Easily accessible by bus or a walk. Situated opposite the United Nations building with all its flags and on the other side there are fountains squirting water at different heights. An interesting attraction to see.

It's the biggest broken chair i have ever seen in my life right in front of the United Nations. It's quite impressive. It's a free attraction. You can get there by bus. This chair inspires me war, peace and dignity. It's worth having a look.
