Great ski area with beautiful views which spans Switzerland and France. Large, open slopes for beginners and scary walls for experts, really has it all! Food is great with lots of bars and restaurant options. Easy to access by train (Champery for example) or car (road to Champery is not windy so good with kids and delicate stomachs;) )

We have an apartment in Drouzin me Mont just outside the Portes du Soleil ski area so we normally drive everywhere. This means we can access the lesser known resorts of Abondance, Chapelle d'Abondance and St Jean d'Aulps which are quieter than Avoriaz and Morzine, but we also love Les Gets. The lift infrastructure particularly in the Swiss resorts could... More

The Port du Soleil is Europe's largest winter playground, with 1000's of meters of skiing and mountain biking in the summer, the whole area running from Geneva in Switzerland across the French Alps there are stunning walks, views and things to do all year round

Portes du Soleil is actually a brand for a region that encompasses, in one ticket, several ski resorts including Les Gets, Morzine and Avoriaz. Great skiiing, great hiking, great views. And quite different styles between the resorts. Les Gets and Morzine with low chalets village style, while Avoriaz is a daring highrise construction in altitude.

You won't need your French phrase book here. English is readily spoken, and Brits are prevalent, due to the fact that its the nearest Alpine ski area when you drive down from the UK. If you like your holidays to be a home from home, this is it. Not everyone will appreciate hearing so many Brits on the slopes though.... More

Seen the bad weather (snow and wind) we only saw the Swiss side of Portes du Soleil. Lifts were closed for 1.5 day - snow storms. Les crosets : not much to see/do when you can't ski.

Have been skiing here for years and I still find little gems of places to ski. The off piste is great as not too many people venture away from the obvious areas. The food on the mountain side is good value.

A ski area to dream up. Exceptional views and a variety of terrain. Linked network of ski areas allow for travel back and forth between France and Switzerland. So many lifts (a number of them drag lifts in certain spots) you can go and go and go.
