If you are in Geneva you have to come and visit this place, really nice free tour and it is worthy the visit. Summertime best time of the year.

Beautiful visit but disappointing tour
Nov. 2021
The visit costs 15CHF for 1 hour, in which a brief historical review of the UN is given and only the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room and the outside of the building are visited.
We expected a more detailed guided tour, although we understand that after COVID the tours guides may be a bit rusty.
Way to improve!

Tours have restarted and are worth doing even though the old buildings is being renovated. Good info from our guide Anouk.

There are no tours at the moment so not worth travelling all the way out on the tram to take a photo of the outside.

Would have enjoyed a visit
Jul. 2021
The Palais des Nations is the headquarters for the United Nations, and the outside was impressive. We enjoyed seeing the front facade and the flags lining the approach. We would have enjoyed the tour that is normally available, but due to Covid restrictions it wasn't operating during our visit. We were still glad that we took the time to walk by and see the building, as well as the nearby plaza and Broken Chair scuplture.

Unfortunately due to Covid, this was not open although we could stand outside the barriers and take photos. There is a tour you can take but this was suspended due to Covid. Worth a visit but check before going.

United Nations HQ in Europe
Aug. 2019
It was good to be able to pass by this area, The Palais des Nations Symbol of Geneva, capital of peace. This building was built between 1929 and 1936 and located at the heart of the Parc de l'Arian. It houses houses the European headquarters of the United Nations, and is the largest UN centre after New York. Outside, you will be able to see the enormous Broken Chair, which is a symbol of peace and freedom.

Cool building & surrounding area to see, but cant really give it more than an average rating without having gone on the tour, there were none available during our time in Geneva. There is a park nearby, and of course, the three legged chair artwork across the street. Other than that, walking the lakeside path is the next best thing in the area.
