We loved Bern. It is so beautiful and entertaining, especially for children. You must walk on Gerechtigkeitsgasse road and cross the Nydeggbrucke, then you will arrive to the riverside where you can see bears walking around freely. There is a lift to go down to the riverside but till 17.00 or 17.30 after then only stairs. We found souvenirs very... More

An old town is an old town. Bern has its own kind but it doesn't differ much to the other Old Towns that I visited in Europe.

The old town of Bern is well preserved and surely one of the most beautiful town in Switzerland. It is very small and one day is enough to visit it all. The cathedral, the city hall, the clack tower and the Einstein's house are the main attractions.

It is a very nice old town. Lovely river across the city. You can buy souvenirs and enjoy a beatific view. There is an interesting clock tower in the middle of downtown.

Very quite when we visited. Easy to visit use park and ride. Old town great, very unique style. Watch clock 4mins prior to the hour as well as on the hour. Nice to visit a relaxed capital city for a change. Forget fast cheap food, still looking at 14 Swiss francs for meal.

I just had one evening here but enjoyed walking through the old city very much. Lots of shops and restaurants lining the main road, hidden away under the arches.

The old medieval town of Bern is just breathtaking, with its cobbled stone streets, its galleries, and its churches and beautiful buildings. Magical at night or when misty or snowy.

Bern is a fantastic city to walk around. Filled with arcades, carved medieval fountains, wall paintings and fanatic architecture there is so much to enjoy. The city is beautifully preserved without becoming 'Disneyfied'. Nydegg is quite steep but worth the effort to see the old buildings and to experience the original entrance and exit to the town.

Was snowing the whole day I was there, which made it even more special. I loved the buildings and the history and the view over the river. Would definitely recommend visiting

A walk from the station to the bear park takes you through this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wonderful statues run down the middle of the street. Don't forget to visit the side streets as there is much to see there.
