Clock Tower (Zytglogge) Today it is one of Bern's most important sights. The ornate astronomical clock with its moving figures was built in 1530. It served as the city's main clock and thus had an authoritative function in Bern. It was from there that travel times indicated on stone markers along the cantonal roads were measured. Standard units of length... More

This is an imposing and very pretty, colourful clock tower and you'll want photos of it for your album. As it gets closer to the hour large numbers of people gather to see the figures. The display is interesting, but not spectacular.

Located in the picturesque centre of Bern the clock tower draws people from all around on the hour when the figures appear from one side and move around in front of the clock, disappearing at the other side. Get there arly if ou want to be close enough to see the action.

This clock tower is colourful and nice. The unique part is that this is a two side clock instead of the normal 4 sided clock. There are two clocks on the one side and only one the other. Why? Hope that somebody can tell me that.

Waited for the hour to see the clock in action, not worth the wait! See it, pretty colours, style. But the action on/around the hour is so so.

The clock is a nice historic and iconic landmark to see in Bern. On the hour, there is a small cuckoo clock display that starts moving. The display is really small compared to the rest of the clock, though.

The clock tower is a must-see if you come to Bern. It is a huge tower with an ancient clock with a middle-aged style. It reminds the clock tower in Prague. If you ever come to Bern, visiting this tower is mandatory. Very nice!

Many people wait for o'clock show around the clock tower but not much clock movement to see. Only little tricks and clock bell rings. Don't expect much @ o'clock performance. The clock tower condition is well maintained and colourful painting by the side is nice.

This is a beautiful example of engineering and history but I would not recommend hanging around for ages to see it striking the hour; there's so much else to see in the city. Admire it for a few moments and carry on exploring
