The museum is quite spectacular on the outside but not sure it is the most exciting museum one can visit in Basel. It is a nice activity with the kids but the collection was not that exciting for us, compared to other museums of natural history around Europe.

We went to the museum at first for the mummification exhibit but also spent time in the other parts. It was great and we really enjoyed it. The only downside was the lack of information in other language than German. They really should make an effort to translate the descriptions.

It's a very interesting museum, that lacks information in other language than german. I could have taken a better experience if I could be able to understand better what I was seeing.

A very good little museum, we enjoyed the dinosaurs and seeing the different extinct species in stuffed animasl, especially the woolly mammoth. We were sorry nothing at all was written in English and we weren't offered anything to help us understand, may be I should have asked but didn't see anything, and although I can understand French I don't know... I spent the majority of my time there in the special exhibit on mummification, both purposeful and by chance. The baby mammoth really caught my attention. Although I did not check out evert other exhibit area, it appeared to be a quality museum.

We loved it! It's small, but is done very nicely. There are some very unique things and is very interactive for kids. My two young children loved it. I also must add that they have made it very convenient, with ample stools for people to sit.

Me and my girlfriend really enjoyed the museum. It had a really big display of many animals who all looked superb. It was almost asif they could move at any second! Only note is that all the signs were in German. But i do believe you could rent an tables with english information ( which we didn't do)

You must visit this museum when in Basel. Probably the best exhibition of historic animal life over the centuries that I have ever seen. Fascinating to look at and read about all things associated with Natural History. And a bonus free entry because it was a Public Holiday. My good fortune! See it.

Only takes about 2 hours and is free of charge with some impressive pieces. I went on a Wednesday morning & I basically had the museum to myself! The only negative is the lack of any English translations.
