Basel's old town is nice, if not very big. We walked through it on our first day of a longer tour, and it was a pleasant first day. There is some shopping and it isn't too big to enjoy in a couple hours.

We spent half a day walking around the town. Very pretty and pleasant. There are some very old building like 400 years old. It's also good to walk around with children. There are many nice building, museums and the riverside is so beautiful. The boat trip which takes only around 10 min to cross the river is a must.

Several planned walks available in brochure from Tourist information. Area around the Marketplace takes you through Basel's history from the middle ages to the present. From the bright red City Hall to views of the modern pharmaceutical industry buildings and factories on the Rhine.

I welcome many of my fans in friends in my hometown. And a walk through the old city of Basel is one of the musts you should do. On this walk you will learn a lot about the architecture and culture of Basel the city of art.

Basel is having a very nice old town, nice shops, clean and ordered as usual for Switzerland. It is already a different mentality with respect to Zürich, more confusion and less people in center.

A stroll through Basel Altstadt is a pleasure in any season. It's a perfect way to get acquainted with the medieval parts of the city.

Whilst you can shop for just about everything if you take time to see past the modern shop interiors you will see some stunning architecture and a city that has a historic past. Well worth visiting if you like buildings, history and shopping

you will be very surprised doing those guided tours... basel is not just all about chemical and pharmaceutical industries... while walking the old parts of the city you really get a feeling for the old old times... some houses date back to 1400 and older... and yes Basel has a rich story to tell...

As you stroll through the old town of Basel, one of the most intact and beautiful in Europe, you’ll be amazed at its unparalleled architectural diversity. Each corner features buildings from the 15th century as well as those designed by contemporary, internationally renowned architects. Due to its small size, the city is easily explored on foot. Here you will discover... More

You should lose your way a bit throught the small streets of the city. You would discover many nice shops, cafes and such. The old city is not that big so you can cover good ground in few days.
