The highest point on the hilltop of Assisi - quite a push up the road, but what views, you can understand the strategic idea. Costs a few E to go in, but even the top of the road is fine. Great way down - follow...More

This beautiful fort is right out of the Middle Ages. It's worth the climb to the top. The building is great, the view from the top of the hill is breathtaking.

You can park here but we walked up. 5/6 euros to get in it is one of the few places to pay to visit in Assisi but worth it. Good views from the top if you can cope with the tight, potentially slippy, stone spiral...More

Rocca Maggiore is probably not worth what you pay for entry, but the views over Assisi and the valley are amazing. Well worth the climb.

We hiked to the top on a very hot day. The reward was a spectacular view, although there is not much else to see there.

Wow, that walk up the hill just about killed us. It was in a heatwave, but I think it would have been pretty much the same whether it had been 22 degrees or 34. Once we got up there, we expected something more rewarding or...More

We decided to walk up to Rocca Maggiore in late afternoon, once the midday sun had passed. It was still a hard walk up hill to reach Rocca. Once there it's mainly a ruined old fortress perched on top of the hill. There was an...More
