Small but beautiful. The Baptistery should definitely be on your list of sights to see while in Siena. Include this with you visit to the Cathedral and you will not be disappointed.

The Baptistry was one of my favorite sites in Siena. It is fully decorated with frescos, statues, painting and don't forget to look at the floor. Amazing place and very quiet and serene.

It's easy to think you can pass this up after you've seen the Duomo and the Piccolomini Library. Don't make that mistake. The baptistry is exquisite. The ceiling art work is incredible and the detail well-worth the visit. Look the for images of the Judgment....More

This is an amazingly beautiful and exquisite place. The frescos are amazing. I thought I was a bit tired of churches on my European vacation until I visited this bapastry. If you are in Siena it is a must see.

Awesome tribute to St. John the Baptist, gorgeous baptistry, beautiful façade and frescoes, marble sculpture...more impressive interior than the Duomo, built in thr 14th c. and brings you back in time the that era of Italian renaissance.

Built between 1316 and 1325, the façade, in Gothic style, is unfinished. It contains a hexagonal baptismal font realized in 1417-1431 by the main sculptors of the time: Donatello

A must! Nothing else to add really except an exceptional piece of architecture displaying the pride that Siena had for its status.

Notice the Life of Saint John sculpted on Baptismal font by Donatello, and Frescoes by 13th century Sienese.

Better than the cathedral for art lovers also not horribly cold like the cathedral and the floor is not covered like the cathedral

Small lower area attached to the larger cathedral. Wonderful ambiance and frescos and art. Small, so not to overwhelming, but a little jewel of a place. They were going to have a wedding service on the day we were there, but the ticket office gave...More
