You can't help but look up as you approach the Piazza. It is a sudden pause as you discover the Piazza and the tower is there. It is a something you want to see and spend time taking it all in.

The town itself is not big. The main square is where the shops and restaurants are with another outer layer of street with more shops and restaurants. This is not a flat town though, you'll see occasional cars struggling to get up to the square. Again, the tower is a good landmark.

The climb was almost hard work - it not an easy climb, but not exceptionally hard either. A little claustrophobic in patches - tall people - keep checking for headroom - but overall, not an unpleasant staircase. Most of the climb (except the last stairs to the very top of the tower) is quite enclosed (no exposure) and even on... More

It is a tough climb to the very top of the tower but well worth it for the views of the piazza below yow, the basilica and the surrounding countryside

You can walk in here for free, but definitely worth paying to climb the Tower. The architecture here, as in many places in Siena, was exquisite!

The views from the top of this tower are amazing. They control how many people can go up at any one time, so plenty of space to enjoy the view and take fab pictures. The old town below is so beautiful. Highly recommend this, followed by a relaxing glass of wine in the piazza below.

Charming as can be. This piazza is so large. Come sit at the fountain and bring a snack and people watch for a couple of hours. You will see locals come out to spend time with their love ones after a long day.

The Tower dominates the Piazza del Campo when you see the first view, walking through the corridors to the open space. The Cappella is a beautiful little chapel at its base, erected as a means of expressing thanks.

Not for the faint of heart of fright of heights! Some 400 steps up a very narrow, winding stair to the highest tower in Siena. Spectacular views of the city and surrounding countryside. Worth the climb if you feel up to the challenge.

I highly recommend this piazza in Greve, Sienna. Had lunch a fantastic little restaurant. NIce stores to do some shopping for local artisans. It was worth the drive!
