Huge but modest basilica

A bit hidden but a great find! I was struck by its simpleness and height. To see for those who appreciate all kinds of churches in Italy

This is a large, but very simple Basilica. There is plenty of art but it is at a much more modest level. Its a great Franciscan church, highlighted by its simplicity.

If you go to Siena, you have to visit the main churches and this one is immensely high and has an astonishing marble floor which deserves to be remembered in photos!

This a is a great space packed with religious art, stain glass windows and impressive altar. Not as many tourist parties appear to visit allowing you more time to take it all in. No photography allowed

I have to admit that we stumbled on this church purely by chance on our away day from Florence. A very large interior with some lovely art work and a nice stained glass window. It is a bit off 'the beaten track' but it is well worth 30 minutes of your day.

There is so much to see in Siena, that this cathedral gets less than its due. It is adjacent to the escalator access to the walled city, so makes a great first stop. Personally, I hate the contemporary art in the Plaza

Didn't really have the time go explore and take it this church as I would have liked, but what I saw I really liked. I feel on my next trip here I would like to spend more time and pay more respect to this church

The Basilica's interior is a wide open space with some smaller alters towards the front and in the wings. Worth a brief visit.

Do you realize you could put 3 hot air balloons in this church. Msimple with fantastic stain glass windows and three miracles are paid in this Church. I almost loved this more for the non tourist feeling than the Cathedral.. Well worth the visit.

we didn't go in this one for mass was going on but we did enjoy the outside of the building and talking with residences about the area and building, probably finding out more about it than we would have actually going in. our teacher went in after mass to ask if we could go inside they said no due to...
