The magnificent complex of the Cathedral of Siena, its Duomo, houses a series of some of the most important monuments of the European artistic panorama. With its more than one million visitors every year, the Cathedral without a doubt represents the fulcrum of the entire complex, while other significant elements include the Crypt, the Baptistery and the Museo dell'Opera, all part of the impressive mass formed by the "Duomo Vecchio" (Old Cathedral), and the "Duomo Nuovo" (New Cathedral). Visitors will travel along a memorable itinerary to the discovery of self and the truth of faith through culture and art, the result of more than a millennium of Western history.

An amazingly beautiful cathedral and a joy every time I have ever been there. A typically Tuscan church of that era, it is the focal point of a great city and a must see for anyone who visits Siena. Strangely recommend.

Visited this incredible church as part of a tour of Tuscany with Walkabout Tours. The excellent guide explained the main points. Be sure to visit the little Chapel of Miracles within the main church and the Library

Entirely worth seeing. The building is beautiful and well preserved. Structures very reminiscent of Florence.

One of the treasures this cathedral offers to its visitor is the pavement of the interior of the cathedral. Unfortunately it is covered at times and the visitor has only his/her tears to find some relief...what a pity!! Couldn't it be covered by (plastic) glass?

This is a fascinating and impressive Duomo! The facade is a mixture of Gothic and Romanesque architecture. The facade definitely registers as Gothic, with the elaborate upper portion sculpture and decoration. However, the lower facade features the simpler Tuscan Romanesque style. It is a fascinating combination. I would recommend paying the small fee to tour inside. There are treasures everywhere... More

Worth a visit even if you've seen too many cathedrals in Europe. Lovely stone work and frescos. Some great masters, early work of Micheal Angelo are in display. Must go if in this beautiful town of Siena.

The facade is an exquisite confection. Even more astounding is the interior; absolutely spectacular from floor to ceiling and everything in between. Mind blowing artistry and skill. Set aside plenty of time to take in as much as possible; there are different entry tickets/ tours to choose. Even the shortest visit will be unforgettable. Top of my list for Siena!

I have been in Europe for about 4 months so I am a bit 'churched out'. However, this cathedral is well worth a visit as it has beautiful architecture and art. It also has a really beautiful display of old illustrated bibles.

The size & scale of this cathedral is amazing & moving. The tiling is so unique. From the inside & outside it is a must see. It inspires a lot of conversation whether you are religious, spiritual or neither.

Well worth a look. And the surprise is that it is actually built on top of another cathedral which I reccommend you buy a ticket for. Very interesting. Listen to the history of both cathedrals while down in the bowels if the original one. A bisit to the Baptistry is also well worth your time.
