After battling mobs at holy sites in Rome and Florence, the solitude offered at San Domenico was surprising. Initially I had wondered if I was in the right place. But then I saw signs directing this weary pilgrim to St. Catherine, the basilica's most lasting...More

Built by the Domenican order but linked to St Catherine of Siena. This church holds the head of St Catherine, worth a visit.

The basilica was under restauration when we visited. An imposing Basilica, sober as Dominican are, it must be a beautiful place to visit once its finished..

Basilica San Dominico is in a high position and is rather spectacular. Inside there is an incredible range of old masters artwork which are in fresco on the walls. The tributes and relics of St Catherine are well worth the visit.

Honestly, there is nothing about this basilica that stood out from the dozen others I already saw this week except for the tons of scaffolding inside and the fact that St. Catherine's head is kept here.

Words can't really describe it. It is beautiful, magnificent, grand, just go see it. The inside frescos are amazing and so well preserved

Once again a beautiful piece of history that was preserved for all to see. We loved the history and the pictures that we took were amazing. Can't wait to print them out and hang them on the wall
