Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The name of this profile is a bit generic, if we consider that it refers to a town whose main characteristic is precisely that of having a myriad of towers and bell towers. As many as 14 today, but originally there were as many as 72. Here, based above all on the position on the map, it must be said that we are referring to the 54 meter high Grossa or Podestà tower, which is public and therefore open to visitors. It can be accessed with a ticket from the town hall to which it is annexed and where you can also visit the civic museum and art gallery. You go up with a high staircase with hairpin bends which is a little difficult only in the final ten steps. At the top there is a beautiful panoramic terrace, which allows you to enjoy a 360 degree view of the town and all the surroundings, and a huge central bell. The terrace, not being protected by glass or grates, allows you to take excellent photographs: it is therefore worth going there on days when the weather and light conditions are favorable for viewing the landscape. The view from above of the other, lower city towers is priceless. And surprises can also happen, as happened to us: for example seeing the top of one of the other towers, evidently for residential and/or private use, used by the lucky residents to sunbathe on a magnificent October day. The tower dates back to 1311.

A high hill charming town with cosy atmosphere and nice shopping. But - eat at lunch at Sovestro hotel restaurant (call and book before) - you will regret if not. High class food and service to reasonable prices enjoying stunning views.

The whole visit was brilliant.. we visited all the named site's but the best one for me was to walk round the small path at the side of the wall .We found a little seat looking out over the fantastic country side. The farm land . Buildings and Valleys were breathtaking. I could have stayed forever in that spot. Magic.

Climbing all those stairs was really worth it, and a bit fun, since they never seemed to end. The views are impressive. A no go if you have heart issues, but otherwise it's a must-see if you are visiting the city. The museum is also very interesting.

A charming walled city with amazing views to be had from one of the 13 towers that remain from the original 72 built. A beautiful city to wander through and explore. Parking can be difficult so we had a taxi take us from our farm accommodation rather than battle to find a park. This stress free tactic set the tone for a fabulous day. Heaps to explore and see and don't miss the chance to climb the tower for the amazing views across the whole area. Not a hard climb and well worth the effort - a must do if in San Gimi! That said if you cant bring yourself to face the climb there are a few lovely spots where there are great views within beautiful garden areas.

Spectacular views of the towers and the surrounding countryside. Almost fell from one of the ramparts for a "punto panoramico".....ask me I will tell you about it.

The view from the bell tower is probably the best in town.
The walk up the steps may possibly be quite harsh but it's worth enough: the view is indeed stunning and marvellous.

We are 76 and 77 and last year we did the Bell Tower in the Cathedral in Seville which is 39 levels. When we got to the Tower of Pisa which some tourists don't realise was built as the Bell Tower for the Pisa Cathedral (some distance away) we didn't climb that either. You can experience this Bell Tower without climbing it because you are surrounded by the medieval town, although if I were 10 years younger, yes I would have climbed it for the view. The view from the wall next to the elevator going down to the P3/P4 parking lot isn't too shabby either, and its free.

The 13 euro San Gimignano Pass allows access to the tallest tower in this lovely Tuscan town. It is an easy climb up, apart from the very last steep stairs. Once up, the views in all four directions are wonderful, across the rolling hills and vineyards of Tuscany. There is an interesting AV presentation in the middle of the spiralling stairs - takes one back to the 1300’s.
