Do it! It's usually worth going up a tower and this is no exception. It's not the highest but it's all relative.

Such an interesting heritage for this small village in Tuscany. Niccolo Macchaivelli was actually an administrator in this village. It likely hasn't changed much since then.

Such a gentle low key Piazza. Sunny or shady depending on the side of the Piazza you choose. Cafes and bars in Piazza to watch the passing parade.

The most picturesque of Tuscany's hill towns...this walled jewel with its unique bell towers which go skyward, were actually protection from medieval invaders where hot tar and stones were dropped below. Ascend to the top for a picturesque vista of the surrounding countryside...wear comfortable shoes!

San Gimignano is a wonderful place to visit! Plan to spend the day & explore the local flavors. The bell towers are great fun; wear comfortable shoes and plan on taking photos every step of the way. You will enjoy the local foods and friendly people. I can't wait to visit San Gimignano again. Don't miss it!!

During our Stay in Tascany, we stayed in a farm/ guest house: B&B walking distance from San Gimignano. The bell tower offers an exeptional site and we went there 3 times at didfferent time of the day for different day lights; Do not miss !

We didn't know the inside of the fortress is full of shops gelateries and restarurants. as we didn't know on sundays there is a fair beside the Bell tower along the Piazza, always you cand find vintage stuff from clothes to glass vases to old LP records...We enjoyed the ice cream Limoncello, don't miss buying some prosciutto in the meat... Well worth the climb. The views are breathtaking. We were there in Dec so had zero crowds. Easy walking whole town. A must see.

We stopped to visit San Gimignano for a couple of hours in the late afternoon. The medieval towers were very impressive. I wished we had more time to explore the town.
