The Tower of Pisa (180 feet in height) was begun in 1173 and, due to its faulty foundation on unstable soil, leans precariously more than 14 feet out of line, preventing visitors from climbing its 300-plus steps to the top.

Unfortunately I did not do my homework and we turned up at the Pisa tower at around 11.00 am. I assumed that because it is December, it would not be a problem and I could buy tickets and climb the tower. I was WRONG! All...More

First be prepared to leave your bags at the lockers area due to security reason. You are only allowed to bring camera and may be a selfie stick. The security will scan you before allowing you to enter. As you climb the steps, some may...More

When you first see the Leaning Tower, you are both impressed and relieved. You are impressed that it is so beautiful (even if efforts over centuries to compensate for the lean make it look a little like a banana in real life) and large and...More

Pisa is three hours from Rome, nothing much here to explore so 2-3 hours should be fine. We took train from Roma Termini at 10AM morning and we were back to Rome by 7PM. We can just walk from Pisa Centrale to Tower the only...More

It is an iconic landmark so yes, a must see, however Pisa itself looks rather dodgy city - head out to Florence, Siena or Cinqueterre villages

This is one of those attractions where you half-expect to be disappointed - not one bit. I'm not sure I'd enjoy this with the hordes that descend on it in the summer but on a sunny winter's day, with few people, it was stunning. The...More

A must see if in the Pisa area. 300ish steps to the top but on a clear day you get great views of the Italian countryside.

Although quite touristy, it is still an iconic landmark you should see. It is quite the sight in person.

Spectacular works at Piazza del duomo boasting its opus magnum cathedral as well as its resounding Leaning tower or torre pendente. Regrettably the city is flocked and flogged by hordes of non local people that scare tourists to death like me as well as to...More

Hi, if I was to go again I would prefer late morning, we went in the afternoon and it was pretty hot. The tickets have a reserved time, they won't let you up the tower before the time on your ticket. This is the official... More
