Wonderful old church with 8th century origins in the old Roman forum. Children will love asking if that is a real dead body at the back. Just say that is what happens to you if you smoke.

San Michele is the center of Lucca.. We enjoyed touring through the beautiful church and watching the visitors each day as we sat at one of several cafe across the street. San Michele Square seams to be one of the main meeting places in Lucca....More

Honestly, I prefer it to the Duomo. The church is lovely, and the entry is free. The outside is also stunning.

3 ages of building. go down to see the roman baths and ruins. look at the dome from another era. worth a visit and cheap to do so
