Amazing experience
Aug. 2021 • Couples
Great wine tasting, very friendly and knowledgeable owner who is clearly passionate about her wines; we did the 7-wine tasting and it was excellent, lasted for 2,5 hours we even got an 8th wine on the house to round up the experience. We bought no less than 18 bottles because we loved the wine, but there is no pressure in buying. Highly recommended.

Beautiful wines of Tuscany
Nov. 2019
Enjoyed our tour and the fantastic wines the vineyard produced. Elena acted a our tour guide and provided much background on their wine production. We were treated to a sit down wine tasting and provided a different housemade apperativo with each wine served. Delicious.

Wine and food of high quality
Feb. 2019 • Couples
The wine here is great, but that is to be expected from pretty much all wine of Montecarlo. What we like best are the great homemade snacks that accompany the wine, and the charming presentation by Elena.

Tuscan Delight
Oct. 2018 • Couples
We did a tour of Montecarlo with ComeandSeeItaly tours and part of the tour was visiting this winery. We ended up with a private tour and it was the highlight of the trip. Elena was so down to earth, friendly and accomodating, we felt like family. The tour of the farm, the vineyard, the olive grove was very informative. The wine tasting was simply amazing. we tasted over 6 different wines with a variety of food: fresh bruschetta from her garden, pecorino cheese with honey, brushetta with sausage. and the wines. absolutely amazing. it was very imformative to hear her describe how she combines the grapes and the various barrels she uses to enhance the grapes and provide variety of flavors. Well worth the time to visit and enjoy great views, great food and great wine. Truly a Tuscan delight.

Fantastic wine tasting and vineyard tour
Jun. 2018 • Couples
We travelled as two couples in July 2018 and We stumbled across this gem by accident after looking for somewhere to eat and drink after a morning in nearby Lucca.

What a find! Elena was a fantastic host, giving us 7 wines in total to taste, with a different apperativo with each one. All were fresh, home-made and delicious. Elena gave us loads of information about each one as we sat in her lovely vineyard garden enjoying the sunshine. After lunch she walked us around the vineyard itself explaining the layout and the history of the place and her family, which we loved.

A fantastic way to spend an afternoon, a true Tuscan experience. Not commercial or sales-y at all, felt very personal.

Thanks Elena!

Great place to while (wine) away an afternoon
Jul. 2018 • Family
I’d read about this small vineyard before travelling, but had not remembered it. After visiting the tourist information centre in the prettiest hilltop town of Montecarlo, this vineyard was one of those we were to.d was open for visitors that day.
What a find. Small, almost hidden, and quiet, first impression was not up to much, but that left us immediately when we were met by the owner, who offered us an afternoon of tasting their range of wines accompanied by food.
Sitting in their garden under a heavy Tuscan sky we whiled away a good few hours sipping whites and reds, and scoffing a range of meats and cheeses, finally ending with desert wine and biscuits.
All the wines were fab, as was the freshly made food and the hosts. Well worth the money.
What a hidden gem of a place well worth a visit, a perfect homely experience. Only difficulty is choosing which wines to buy, and which child’s clothes you will need to leave behind to make space for them.

Not as well known, but
Apr. 2018 • Friends
This winery is a hidden gem, smaller and less commercial than other better advertised fattorie, but with “vino ottimo” and excellent prices. Elena Carmignani speaks enough English to explain well the production of each exquisite blend, and she is charming and friendly. The food that accompanies each wine is also divine, locally sourced and sometimes even made from recipes that have been in the Carmignani family for generations. The winery sells DOC Montecarlo red and white wines and excellent olive oil that is a blend of four different tree varieties. While it is not a full lunch as such, you should probably come to your wine tasting on an empty stomach, because the food is quite adequate to serve in place of lunch. Elena can also arrange to have your bottles shipped.

An unforgettable experience
Dec. 2017 • Couples
My husband and I visited this winery as part of a guided tour (Discover Lucca with Elena). The owner of the winery, Elena Carmignani, was a fantastic hostess. I was impressed with her energy and talent.

We tasted several wines, ranging from white to rose to red, and we loved them all. The label on the rose bottle features a beautifully rendered portrait of Elena’s daughter. And Elena herself is an artist who designed the label for the “heavy” red. Her olive oil is outstanding, as well. Elena offered ample portions of her wines along with a generous snack of meats, cheeses, bread, and almond cantuccini. Her vineyard was still beautiful in December.

I walked away from this tour thinking “I could live here.” I loved the relaxed pace of the tasting. It was such a treat to spend a few hours with Elena our tour guide and Elena the wine maker.

Warm welcome
Aug. 2017 • Couples
We stayed in Viareggio and couldn't get a wine tasting trip from there. So we looked up where some vineyards were situated and drove there. We found a few along the road into Montecarlo, Lucca district. We saw a small sign"wine tasting" which led us to Carmignani vineyard. As we walked in we met Elena Carmignani who gave us a lovely warm welcome. From then on she gave us the best wine tasting experience we have ever had. Lovely wines, food and such a nice lady. Would definitely recommend this winery. Far better than a bigger more commercialised one we visited just up the road.
