We have been here often from Florence. Purchase bus tickets at the tobacconist in the Piazza at San Marco and walk down the street coming from the north, going away from the Academia, and wait for bus number 7 which leaves about every ten minutes. It is a short ride up to Fiesole, the views from the hiking trail, also... More

Almost all of the previuous reviewers who have preceded me have drawn the "Park Montececeri" as an excursion from Fiesole to Fiesole, ie which forces you to make twice the same way (some have even spoken of the Park confusing it with other places in Fiesole; so that, for example, they haven't found the summit of Monte Ceceri, where Leonardo... The free map of Fiesole lists 3 walks which I highly recommend. One is titled "The Stone Masons and Leonardo". The walk in its entirety is about 3 miles long, partly paved but solid trails in the park. It is however suggested that you be prudent because many signs warn of steep drop offs. It takes you through quarries of... More

The Parco di Montececeri is one of our favourite walks from the Pensione Bencista. Shaded from the sun, the climb is in places steep but the view over Tuscany from the small piazza with the monument to Leonard da Vinci is spectacular. Follow the path down that leads to the upper reaches of Fiesole and ultimately the Piazza Mino.

This was our last day, last trip before we left Tuscany in October. The weather was perfect, which helped a lot the overall impression - when it comes to 'nature attractions' you need good weather to really appreciate it. The park is easy for walking (no climbing required), quiet, well mapped so you know where you are or what you... More

We visited Fiesole to see the Duomo and the Etruscan remains, and then walk back to Florence. When we got there we found that the tourist office had maps for local walks. Feeling somewhat sated with art and culture we walked instead. The park is tranquil, interesting flora and fungi, and offers splendid views over Florence. We lunched in the... More

Good day trip from Florence. We packed sandwiches and took a bus from Florence to Fiesole, then walked up and down the hills. Park has wonderful view of Florence. Sat on a bench, had lunch and enjoyed the view. Well worth the trip.

We drove up to Fiesole which overlooks Florence. We walked through this small suburb of Florence. We bought gelato walked up the hill to the Park that overlooks Florence and from there we watched one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever seen. The clouds were perfect that evening and the sky was beautiful reds, oranges, blues and purples.... More

Nice walking trail through the parc with beautiful view on Florence. No directions available. Da Vinci was said to use this place as try out place but no indications available.

Climb up through the forest to reach the small square commemorating the spot where Leonardo da Vinci tested his flying machines out with local 'volunteers'. Then walk past the wall and drop down through the forest to the Piatto di Pini and thence into Fiesole.
